BOYO VISION VTHUDpro- USB Car Head Up Display

I still give 5 stars despite that this is my second order on the product.My first order was from Aliexpress about 2 years ago and it has some issue with the board that it oftens restart itself.I find this product really useful and it is brilliant to combine with Android auto. There is no other product on the market today after Navdy, that allows me to use navigation without turning my eye focus away from the road. I can almost be hands free with Google assistant.I have not much problem with the use of FM radio to output the sound as long as I am on the move and nothing secretive.Given the price point, this is really a fantastic product.

Do not waste your money on this. Unfortunately I bought a vehicle that does not have the option to change out the OEM audio. I got the box and it was not sealed in any way. I do not know if I even got a new unit or not. While trying to install this, I was idling in my garage, so not to kill my battery. The device is was not connecting as it should to my vehicle and I ended up calling the tech support number on the back of the manual. I was greeted by "hello?". I explained that it was saying "search device..." and would not do anything else. He did not know a thing and had to consult the technical advisor of "Google". After changing out 2 separate USB cables, it finally went to the android auto setup and what not. While I thought I was finally getting somewhere and hung up with whoever that was, it dropped out again to the "search device..." screen. I finally got it back working and noticed it was shaking really bad, the graphics were fuzzy. For the few minutes it did work, the audio output sucked. Horrible on both FM and auxiliary. Did I mention that the supplied ODB cable did not work? When I connected that it brought up a VSA warning on my dash. Disconnected that and error went off. The screen is tiny and you had to constantly adjust it as you would adjust in your seat. Someone else may have more patience than me to deal with this thing, but not me. Within 30 minutes of unboxing and trying to install it, I had it boxed back up. Sending back in the morning as soon as the UPS store opens. It is. Great concept, but a horrible product.Again... Do not waste your time with this thing!!!!

Let me start with the bad, and end on the good.The bad: the OBD2 cord I received did not work with the device. The HUD did not power up with it. I only have one power port in my car, now occupied by this HUD. The adhesive that sticks to the dashboard is also GARBAGE. I wiped the dash with alcohol and let it dry before applying and it still won’t stick. This makes the screen rattle at speed and difficult to read.The good: the remote control for the device works very well, it does project CarPlay with quick response and is stable, and the screen is bright during the day and dim at night. Audio quality is also pretty good.

I was pleasantly surprised this BOYO Vision VTHUDpro worked so well for me, especially with some poor reviews seem here. I purchased this because I have an iphone and cannot get CarPlay in my car without an expensive upgrade. This plugged in and worked perfectly with my car and phone immediately. Choosing an app is a bit more cumbersome manually as you do not have a touch screen, but to get that, again, an expensive upgrade to my car. I am very happy with the low cost in comparison, to still have CarPlay and be able to use my iPhone in my car. Voice commands work well and I can text and use phone with them. It works though my radio so volume is easily controlled. The screen image is bright and very easy to see day or night, with enough transparency to not be distracting.

This hud looked promising from the videos of it and other’s alike. But in person, at least in my opinion is really tacky. Especially in a 60000+ vehicle. The obd2 functionality for speed and mpg sold me on this until it didn’t deliver. Idk if it’s just BMW’s but both of mine didn’t even attempt to work with this. Also bmw dash’s don’t suit the ergonomics of this product.
