Grille is very beautiful but you need to make sure you have a dedicated Wi-Fi connection to use the jbl pro app

Pretty good sound straight out of the box. I use it for a keyboard so you may need to increase the mids and treble a bit. Plays fairly loud and clean with a small band; use two for larger ensembles or venues. Very durable speaker.

Worked for 13 days only...

Recently supported the local high school's "Battle of the Band" concert. This was the perfect opportunity to test out these PRXs across so many different music types (rock, acoustic, and DJ). For the gymnasium, two of these were satisfactory to great at music throw and I felt the volume filled the space without issue. I will say that they didn't quite have the mellow mid-ranges that I've heard in a couple other speakers (namely the RCF-USA ART 735-A MK4 15" Powered PA Cabinet ) Hookups were easy and the JBL's handled all the various inputs without issue. Over the course of the three hour concert the speakers never hiccuped and weren't overly hot at the end of the night. These speakers do have built in fans for the cooling and while that probably aided in ensuring a cooler power supply, there's some that believe fans not only introduce noise, but also have the propensity to fail due to the fact that folks don't clean them out very often. Convection cooled speakers are usually desired for one less thing to deal with over the life of the speaker. One thing that so many people (including myself initially) were confused about was the fact that these speakers are WiFi enabled. Everyone seemed to think that you could stream to these speakers over WiFi. While I think that would be really cool as well, the WiFi feature is only for remote sound adjustments via the JBL app.

The JBL PRX812W PA speaker offers phenomenal sound and plenty of features for the price. The small size is deceiving, it can pump out very loud, rich, and clear sounds. The housing is well built and stable. The back panel is tidy with what I'm told are improved inputs over the previous version. Using wifi you can adjust it from nearly any location in the room for optimal sound quality and convenience. You can create presets with the software so you are ready when you return to the same venues again, and easy to configure for new events. A lot of people have said this one has a back panel much improved over the last version. I didn't own the previous version, but I have attached a pic of the panel so you can compare. Great sound, solid build, easy to use.

The PRX812W from JBL is the self-powered 12” offering in the PRX series. Let’s start with the cabinet. The build quality seems superb; the coated enclosure seems to be durable and looks great. The honeycomb grill has a super modern vibe and does its job protecting the speakers inside. But, if you’re like me, you don’t buy a speaker for the way it looks! This PA sounds really good right out of the box, but you have some really cool options for EQing it with the app. Which, by the way, was easy to download and setup. I haven’t used it with the sub, only as a full-range top, but it does sound really good. Another bonus is the fact that you can delay these things through the app. This is brilliant for a multi speaker setup covering a lot of space. My one criticism comes from the wifi end of things. If I can connect and control the DSP for this speaker from my iPad, I sure would LOVE to be able to stream music to it as well! House music before and after a gig, backing track, whatever. Seems like the technology is already built in; I don’t know why you can’t do that. Yes, there are RCA jacks on the back to wire something in, but wireless would be the next level.
