Winware 13 Inch Wood Rolling Pin

Great item but returning it because it’s the size of a baseball bat!! lol.

Don't be afraid of the size of this Goliath, this is a breeze to use. Smooth, effortless, BIG, able to be chilled, and it has super-cool / "look at the size of this thing!" conversation starter factor. It is definitely something to show off in your kitchen. There is nothing wood that can compare to it. Coming in 3 sizes (and the sizes listed are for the tube itself, exclusive of the handles), you should be able to find one that is comfortable for you and should be able to inspire anyone to want to get into baking. There's a reason professional kitchens use products like this...it's not just because everything is shiny. The listed almost-4 pound weight had me concerned at first, but when I pulled it out of the box and started to use it, it is so well balanced that you don't even notice the weight of it. It is definitely one of the best additions to my baking arsenal. Couple of things to remember: it's ALUMINUM. Which means, no dishwasher cleaning unless you want to pit it and take the finish off of it. Residential automatic dishwasher soaps are very harsh to aluminum...commercial dishwasher soaps are not. Aluminum is a fairly soft metal (compared to others), so don't bang the thing around like it's a mallet. Take care of this, and like everything else on the planet, it will offer up years of perfect service--it could certainly be in the heirloom category. Yes, it needs a light dusting of flour, but then again, so did the old wood one--usually over and over. The nice thing about this aluminum model is that throughout the years of cleaning, it won't absorb the water and slowly expand its pours making it more difficult and more frustrating to use like it's wooden counterpart. It came in the scheduled time, and since I have had it, I have used it 4x. PRO: Heft, material, ease of use, balance, investment quality, 'cool factor'--and not just because you can chill it. CON: Material for home use (automatic dishwashers), hand wash (some may find that a negative, but I don't know many that throw a wood pin in the dishwasher...so weak argument), some may think it's expensive. All in all, a great item.

I have shopped around for a large rolling pin like this . This is the best quality and price was low compared to equivalent products. They must of changed the adhesive on the stickers because mine peeled right off . Sounds like they listened to the reviews. Either that or I just got lucky. The barrel is unfinished raw wood . It is good idea to wipe it down with mineral oil or cutting board oil . This will seal the wood and they are both food safe.

Yep. All the reviews about the sticker being too strong and leaving residue are right. I was hoping that by now, the manufacturer would have corrected the issue. Nope. Be careful removing the sticker. Do it slowly so it doesn't take the wood with it when you peel it off. I had to use a scotch pad and really hot water to remove the residue, and even still, there is a sticker spot where the wood absorbed the glue. Aside from the sticker issue, the rolling pin works great. Smooth rolling, easy to use, love the larger size.

My wife needed a wider rolling pin for some specialty cakes she was making and asked me to investigate. Some of the competitors were very expensive or didn't have great reviews. I was skeptical of this unit as it seems rolling pins are one of those things that seems simple enough but without paying a lot of money for, end up being junk (handles come off, wood finish is poor, etc.). This unit surpassed expectations and was well packaged. A good value for the money in my opinion and she has used it numerous times and loves it.

I bought this rolling pin 3 months ago and it's already broken. The bearings on one side do not allow it to turn a full turn - only about 3/4 turn. Bearing up is loose. Never been wet. Just not very well made. No idea why this product is rated so highly.

This pin flattens fondant n makes rolling a breeze. I used to use Wilton's 20" white rolling pin and it took a lot of time and energy to roll out/flatten. But this pin is heavy enough to flatten the dough. You dont need alot of pressure, because the middle rolls on its own. Your job is to hold the handles and move.... Truth be told I was carried away when using this pin that I rolled it too flat and it stuck to my table. Even when I had to knead and roll it again.I wasn't bothered because it took less than 2 minutes to get the desired size. I recommend this pin to anyone who wants to get a pin and anyone who can not afford a sheeter. A really good investment.It might be a bit pricey, but it does save you a lot of time,emotion and back ache. when washing this pin,don't dish wash. A soft sponge and liquid soap would do.

I was finding it hard to roll out pie and pastry dough with my little 10 inch pin. So I figured i’d Upgrade to something a little bigger. Settled on this 18 inch bad boy and haven’t looked back since. Rolling is so much easy with a bigger tool. I just wished it weighed a little more, but overall I’d give it a solid 5/7

Did my research and this was the ideal weight and size for my wife to roll out pottery clay in her studio. Disappointed when I found as others had mentioned to be aware of possible imperfections in the rolling surface that might might well be hidden under the product label. And sure as that there was indeed a 1/2" deep x 1" long divot in the smooth surface hidden obviously deliberately under the glued label. Would have been a great product otherwise and I will attempt to fill the missing piece of wood grain with wood filler and sand it smooth.
