Mooer Blues Crab, classic blues overdrive

Bone quiet, creamy sound, low output just like the original BB, this clone is A++

This is exactly what I was looking for- a reliable, inexpensive pedal that puts a little dirt on my signal without heading into fuzz territory. Sure, there are better overdrive pedals, but not in this price range, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with Mooer reliability. Five stars for value.

I liked it. The Blues Crab had almost the perfect sound, especially between the 11 o'clock to the 2 o'clock positions. I did feel that it could have used just a little more, but if I turned it up too much it sounded more muddy. So it was almost perfect for my needs. However, today it just popped and died. I don't know if I'll get another at this point. I'm using the Tone City "Sweet Cream" right now and it is currently hitting that sweet spot that the Blues Crab needed. I feel that if you're still looking for something to help you find just the right blues tone, then definitely pick up the Blues Crab. It's a great deal and a great place to start. It was a good pedal for me to find the sound that I was looking for. Until today it was the first pedal in my chain. It lasted 2 years and I'm happy with it. I might buy another one, but first I'm going to open it up and see what popped. Maybe it's an easy fix. I'll update the review afterwards. Thank you.

I like this pedal a lot. It's very versatile. The amount of gain is perfect for me. It can be used as a boost or an overdrive starting from unity gain. It can also be used to trim off some unwanted highs from the amp. For example I plugged it into my vht special 6. That amp sounds pretty good but the highest frequencies are a little sharp. So I rolled back the tone on the pedal and turned up the tone on the amp. Now I get a bright sound without the harshest high frequencies with a touch of overdrive and boost. This pedal is less muddy compared to a TS clone. The blues breaker circuit is now my #1 go to OD/boost.

It's an ok overdrive more bass and not as much sparkle as my bigger BB type pedals I don't think they are using the right opamp in it. It doesn't sound or feel like a jfet tl072.

This thing is pretty flawless. I wish I could rate it a 4 1/2, because the only tiny issue I have is that the gain knob is very easy to accidentally turn down. Either way, this thing is beautiful. The tone knob seems to somehow always allow your amp and guitar's tone to come through beautifully, basically only really deciding how much treble you want (Which somehow, even when dimed, and even when turned all the way down, still sounds exactly like your amp), the gain is clear and crisp and has plenty of high-mid compression (so it feels really good to play), and the level knob has plenty of boost. This is a 1:1 copy of the Marshall Bluesbreaker V1. I recommend putting it after other drives, as it can get really squishy and easy to play that way, and doesn't screw up their tone too much, and after modulation, as it adds an amp-like character to sterile digital pedals.

I have the Marshall Blues Breaker reissue, but it's a big pedal. I snagged this one as a compact option, and I must say--it's very very good. Sonically, it's super close to the Marshall one. What more can you ask for? Considering it's way cheaper, you can't go wrong with this.

Ok, so that headline is a bit schmultzy... but really, folks... I've recently tried out (purchased) several Overdrive pedals, recommended by those "In-The-Know" folks you can see/hear on YouTube, and salesguys who mean well, but...how could they possibly describe the sound of a pedal?...what kind of guitar is being used?...at what volume?...how is it being played? into what amp? at what settings? and why do ALL those people who demonstrate pedals play, almost exclusively, on the BRIDGE PICKUP? So, after listening to my T9 Tube Screamer, Nobels ODR-1, Donner Blues Drive Mini, MXR Timmy Mini, and a couple others both cheap and expensive, I ordered a Mooer Blues Crab. OMG...the search for an overdrive pedal is over. It's less expensive than most pedals, it's not in the Top Ten list of any lists that I saw...and it's too simple. I plugged it in, set everything to 12:00 (am or pm...take your pick) and played. It is smooth, silky, articulate, blah, blah, blah... all the good stuff you want to hear. Ok, so I'm playing a 2017 PRS SE Standard Santana with 85/15 "S" pickups, neck pickup is coil split via a push-pull tone pot, no other tricks. I play the neck pickup almost exclusively...if I need more treble I do the coil split thing... Pedalboard is a Keeley Compressor into the Mooer Blues Crab into a TC Electronic Hall of Fame II Reverb into a Katana 50 MkII with a volume pedal controlling just the amp volume via the back-panel expression pedal input. No, I'm not playing metal, or hard rock...just some jazz, easy listening, sometimes rock/pop music. I leave it on all the time and use my guitar's volume and tone pots along with the foot volume pedal. This setup works very well with my 7 other guitars... I call it G.A.S. Relief. No more trying out Morning Glorys or B&B Preamps or Archers or Klons or What-Have-Yous. Good job, Mooer. I'm done trying out overdrives...I'm a fan!

Good Quality pedal. Quite a subtle effect, the drive is quite clean and acts more as a boost than an overdrive. So if you want more of a distorted/driven sound maybe look elsewhere.

Klasse Bluesbreaker Pedal.Klingt dem Originalen sehr ähnlich. Reagiert sehr auf dynamisches Spiel, und rauscht nicht.
