How long does the solar panel takes to charge the batterers?

Accepted Answer

The solar panel will provide continuous current to the control board when sunlight is hitting the panel but this is a very low rate of current of around 300mA-500mA. The Ghost Controls system control board has an on-board integrated charging circuit that controls how much current will be sent to the battery so that it keeps the battery from overcharging.  The amount of time needed to charge the battery is impossible to specify because it depends on a number of factors including but not limited to:
-the number of hours of direct vs. indirect sunlight hitting the panel
-the number of cycles 
-the current voltage and age of the battery
-the ambient temperature of the battery
-any continuous or periodic discharge of the battery by connected items
-other accessories that are connected to it
-geographic location in the country of the solar panel

Does this panel require a solar charger or is it built in?

Accepted Answer

The solar charge controller is included in the Ghost Controls gate opener system main control board. It is not part of the solar panel itself so as long as you are connecting the panel to our gate opener system, you do not need a separate solar charge controller.

Can you use the solar panel for anything else besides a gate opener?

Yes.  This is a 10Watt monocrystalline solar panel  and mounting kit that will work with almost any other solar system.

I plan on buying this solar panel to use with my Mighty Mule 360 gate opener. What additional accessories do i need to complete the hook up?

Accepted Answer

You should not need anything provided your gate opener has inputs for a positive and negative wire for a solar panel. The solar panel has these outputs with a cord about six feet long.
