Works great!
Works wonderfully! Such a great item for such a great price! Works perfectly with stray and feral cats — even tested it on my own pets & it shows their microchip number, which I can then look up on various websites online. Highly recommend!

perfect for mobile rescuers!
helped me get another runaway dog home safe last weekend! it’s quiet, lightweight, works quickly, doesn’t seem to spook most animals, and it holds its charge. I tested accuracy on my own pets and everything looked good! great rescue tool at a reasonable price (

I love this
The Smoostart Microchip Scanner is an incredibly useful tool for anyone working with animals, be it in a veterinary practice, an animal shelter, or even for individual pet owners who want to keep track of their pets' microchips. This scanner supports a wide range of microchip formats, including ISO11784/85, FDX-B, and EMID, making it versatile for reading microchips from different manufacturers and animals, such as dogs, cats, pigs, and more. One of the standout features of this scanner is its capacity to store up to 128 records. This is especially handy for professionals who need to keep records of multiple animals before uploading the data to a PC. The process of uploading is straightforward, facilitating efficient data management and ensuring important microchip information is not lost. The usability of the Smoostart Microchip Scanner is enhanced by its user-friendly design. It's compact and portable, making it easy to carry around on the job. The scanner is designed to be easy to handle, which is crucial during the sometimes-stressful process of scanning a nervous or uncooperative animal. While it offers professional-level features, this scanner is also accessible for pet owners who may want to periodically check their pet's microchip status at home. This can be particularly reassuring for owners who want to ensure their pet's microchip is functioning correctly, providing an extra layer of security in case the pet goes missing. Overall, the Smoostart Microchip Scanner is a reliable, efficient tool for anyone needing to scan and manage pet microchip information. Its compatibility with multiple microchip formats, data storage capacity, and ease of use make it a valuable asset in animal care and management.

Reads Most but not All Microchips
It does not read every type of microchip so while this is a good scanner for most pets you may want to take an animal to a clinic or shelter before you know theres no chip. Its easy to use, compact, and otherwise a useful tool for those who stop and scan animals.

A Futile Quest for the Mythical Microchip
I bought the Smoostart Pet Microchip Scanner with high hopes, envisioning a future where I'd effortlessly identify every missing pet or misplaced pig in my vicinity. After all, how hard could it be? Apparently, quite hard! The moment I powered up this sleek black marvel, I imagined it as a high-tech wand capable of revealing the hidden identities of animals. Instead, it turned into a digital game of "Tag, You're Not It." Despite my valiant attempts with three different tags, the scanner was like a stubborn genie refusing to grant any wishes. Each time I waved it around, it flatly refused to acknowledge the tags, proclaiming with an air of digital disdain, “No tag found.” If this scanner were a character in a movie, it would be the overly dramatic villain with a flair for theatrical misdirection. Unfortunately, unlike a villain in a film, it doesn't come with a redemption arc. Instead, it left me with an empty feeling and a growing pile of animal tags. In the end, the Smoostart Pet Microchip Scanner is perfect if your goal is to master the art of scanning nothingness. For those seeking a reliable way to read pet microchips, you might want to keep searching for a scanner that doesn’t see every tag as a figment of its imagination.

Worked perfectly
Worked great. We were able to scan a dog we found living on the streets for over a month and it detected a chip right away and showed us the microchip number on the screen. We searched the microchip number which showed us when it was last updated, the dog’s name and the breed.

Excellent investment
I got this to make sure my dog's chip is still active every time I cross the border into Canada. This unit is very fast at detecting the chip, and at a good distance. In fact it is so good, that it's hard to even pinpoint where the chip is. It arrived almost full charge, and the menus and functions were easy to understand. The screen is of sufficient size and bright enough for indoor use. I have not yet tried it outdoors. The beep is not objectionable and can be lowered in volume. It does NOT beep while charging. I have also transferred data via BT (HID Mode) for a single scan and downloaded the entire memory with no problem.

READY FOR STRAYS!
My daughter who lives in an area loaded with stray cats got this first and has been happy with its effectiveness. Where I live we get a few a month and I was always looking for an i.d. tag, calling the owner, usually not getting an answer, faced with a challenge then. Now I love seeing a stray cat or dog so I can assist by calling the chip source for more accurate information and advice. I love the simplicity of this scanner and I think it’s a good value! When scanning, remember to cover the neck all the way to the shoulders. My husband scared me when he said there wasn’t a chip on our pet so I did a more thorough scan area. Whew! It was closer to the space between the shoulder blades.
