Do your knuckles smash together with these pruners? Or is there enough clearance?

Absolutely NOT! These things totally rock. The mechanical advantage you get with them makes them go through thick branches like a hot knife through butter- even if you are a 5'1" 68 year old lady like me. I have their hedge shears, and they are so good, I bought these. I don't think there is a human alive that would bat their knuckles together with these. As shown, in the photo, the blades are closed. I love Tabor Tools.
