Better than soy sauce

This thickened soy sauce consistently adds flavor to stir fried dishes and makes a dipping sauce. It has been a versatile addition to soups this winter.

I reach for this to use in many recipes that call for soy sauce. The flavor is fuller and richer than regular soy sauce and it has less sodium than low-sodium soy sauce. I use it for cooking only as it is too thick to use as a dipping sauce. It is thick so that it can be combined with other ingredients without the mixture being too liquid such as a teriyaki glaze (50/50 soy paste and honey).

Like soy sauce, but thicker, and a bit sweeter. Great in stir fry

Good seasoning and texture.

On Sam the Cooking Guy's YouTube channel, he uses this stuff in everything - even non-Asian dishes for a little added umami in the flavor profile. Imagine soy sauce that's about the consistency of ketchup instead of thin and watery. That's soy paste. I wasn't sure I'd use it that much but wanted to try it and now I've gone through several bottles. It's become a must-have staple for me.

i purchased, and i never use it because it is simply not for me... it does have a nice consistency, however i come to realize that "pure soy" is very different, more bbq'y than i had expected... its very good if you are into that sort of thing. for me though it was another mistake that sits in my cabinet unfortunately
