Works great for fondant. Realistic. Would recommend!

I was a little concerned after reading reviews but decided to take a chance on this product. I could not have been happier when I received this product and then used it. I sprinkled a little powdered sugar on the mold and rolled my fondant over it, trimmed around the edges with scissors, and it was perfect! Because my fondant was a little soft, it lost some dimension when placing on the cake, but I was able to just smash the mold right up on the cake and it looked perfect! This was a great buy for making a tree stump cake!

I bought this mat to make a tree stump cake on a duck hunting grooms cake & it works so so. I tried using a rolling pin to roll the fondant over the mat, but all this did was tear the fondant up so I used my hands instead... I pressed the fondant (not too thick, but not too thin) into the mold & pulled it off then applied it to the sides of the cake. It took me about 5 rounds of this to go around a 10" round cake. It impresses the pattern pretty good, but could be better. I had to make my fondant thinner because I used this on a buttercream cake (I didn't want the weight of the fondant to pull down the icing), but if I were to put this on a fondant cake I'd roll the fondant thicker & maybe the impressions would show better.

This is exactly what I needed for this project it was perfect.

My daughter wanted a rustic wedding cake. I am an amateur cake decorator. Prior to this cake have never used fondant so I wasn't sure what I was doing but I the cake got rave reviews. My sister wanted to know how I got bark so clean and how I got it to stick to the cake. I tinted my buttercream and the fondant an ivory/cream color, put some brown food coloring in a small plate with a couple drops of water to thin it out and then proceeded to use a paint brush to brush the brown over the 'bark' adjusting the food coloring/water mixture to get various degrees of browns to make it more natural. I made a test cake a week before because I wasn't sure how well the fondant would hold up for a couple days because I was going to have to make the cake 3 days before the wedding. It was fine.

This tree bark impression mat is great!! I made a "tree stump" frosted with fondant, and this mold made very realistic looking bark! It was so easy to use, and the mat is large enough to create a big pattern without repeating (which makes the bark look even more realistic). Fast delivery, good price, great mold. Gave me perfect tree bark when I pressed and rolled into my fondant. Saved tons of time to use this rather than trying to create bark texture by hand.

I received this yesterday, and upon inspection, I found the mould to be very soft. It would be difficult to get a clean, and detailed impression into fondant. It is also VERY small (7" x 6"), considering it cost over $80 delivered, it is NOT worth the money. I will be returning this post haste.
