Works great!
I have a soft-door HMMWV that I wanted to provide at least some security. Put this on the roof, pointed it the direction the instructions told me to (and connected to a Viper car alarm), and it worked perfectly out of the box. If I get close to the door, it gives me the warn away, and if I open the door the alarm goes off. Perfect.

My 2nd 1 within 1 month
I have a 15 Sierra that’s in the hood. Windows been broke twice. So I upgraded viper system with tilt, glass break, 2 dual shock sensors and the 508D proximity sensor. 508d is the key to complete an alarm system to me. But it’s useless if you don’t adjust it correctly. Mine is perfect try an look in my window it chirps. Windows open reach in it chirps depending on how far you reach in it goes full alarm. My issues was I placed it center line directly on top of my audio amp. So when I tilt the rear seat up it’s okay and fine. But when I let the seat down it unknowingly crushed my first 508d. Sucked but it was my fault. But I made the decision cause the wire it came with tan short. So I kept the old wiring from the 1st sensors and extended the wiring when the second sensor came in. So now it can slide forward where as to not be crushed by the seat up or down. My only real con about this item is it’s ugly. This item would be a 10/10 if it was somehow not ugly lol. But it is a must have. Took about 2hrs of adjusting and testing to get it perfectly set. But I’m a perfectionist so I enjoy the challenge. Will buy again if this breaks or if install another security system.

Its tricky
It worked great for a viper alarm, yet since I have a tahoe I want to run the wire under the carpet and place the sensor under the back seats which would be the center of the vehichle. The cord is way too short for that. Until I extend it, I have the device under my center console and works great, but it barely works if someone is passing by the trunk area, sometimes it detects it and sometimes does not. Can get annoying though if there are stray cats around and walk underneath the vehichle. It will set the alarm off depending how the sensitivity is set.

A thin line between loud sounds and movements. Touchy lil sucker.
PROS: this sensor does the job no doubt. If you get anywhere near the vehicle it will let you know that the vehicle is protected with a warning chirp. It also sends a signal to my remote that tells me that the warning signal has been executed. NiceCONS: It's not really easy to adjust. There is two screws for tuning and one says factory only and the other is for the users discretion. Now if you adjust it and you feel happy with it, don't get to comfortable because it will change on you. Youu ha e to keep it where you can get to it or else you'll be in a dual tone sensor nightmare. It's really hard to get it to where it will safely ward off criminals and at the same time not be so sensitive that a loud car or helicopter will not set it off. There is a fine line. So I found myself putting it in valet mode way to much because of the two work I g against each other with motion and sound. So I nasi ally didn't have an alarm when I was in a busy or loud area. Like a show or concert or something. If the alarm goes off to much while your away then your taking a chance on getting stuck due to the battery dying from the headlights and siren going off. Not to mention it's very annoying at my house. I live on a dead end street where cars turn around frequently and it's always going off. So now I don't use it until I can figure out how to make it work right. It's been a real pain in the ass. So that's my story. The directions were non existent. So that was out the window. Oh well

Fantastic Add on for my S2000
Well, I purchased and installed the viper 3305v a few months back and then sold my hard top for the S2000 so it bothered me that someone could basically have their way with the soft top without ever setting off the alarm. Added this proximity sensor and it works flawlessly...plugged right into one of the open ports on the viper and ran the wiring to center of car.VERY easy to understand adjusting the settings. Basically, set it, step away, test it...then turn car on and off after making adjustment to reset it and test it again. Now, if you come look in my window it'll WARN you to back off, put your arm into the car and it triggers the alarm from both sides of the car. If that fails, I have a woodchuck with a serrated knife and a bad attitude in the trunk! For $22, what the heck are you waiting for? Buy it.

Goes off randomly no matter how well its adjusted
I should have listened to reviewer Jules75's warning. I was hoping the negative reviewers just got bad models but turns out they were right. I went to a mechanic who knows what they are doing to get my new viper 3105v alarm set up and had this installed as well. It worked initially at the shop when he was showing me the sensitivity but as soon as I got home it stated going off by itself as soon as I locked the car and walked inside. No animals, people, or cars were around my car and it would just go off every 30 seconds after I lock the car. This did not happen at the shop. This has been happening for hours now. I am taking it back to the shop tomorrow to yank this horrible sensor out of my car. DO NOT purchase this thing unless you want your battery to die in 3 days and your neighbors to hate you. Don't say no body warned you.

Wonderful little device
Wonderful little device. Installed this with a viper 5901 but used gwa (-) instead so it doesn't remained powered all the time. You have to adjust the outer first and then the inner. I did a test run by just placing it on top of my center console and worked fine however when placed in its permanent position under the console it seemed as though the distance of the zone was weakened but nothing re-adjusting couldn't fix to compensate for that. Adjustment screws however could have been made of a more sturdy plastic.I stripped my screw heads trying to adjust it and had to open it to adust them, i also found it it needs the back plate to function properly took me an hour of pondering to and gave up thinking I broke it.If you remove it prepare to be frustrated cause you wont get it to work.once again dont disassemble while adjust it.Very fast shipping BTW ,would purchase again.
