Great product!!
Love the look and fits on great on my smitty winch!! Got pulled over because I did not have the front license plate. Quick fix and very inexpensive. Once you put this on the winch rolls, it just snaps in place and it does not move! Very sturdy and when it's on, it does not move. You'll love it for the Jeep and works great if you need for the plate.

Works as intended and made a mod to improve!
Love this thing. Protects the fairlead from flying mud for the most part. Nice and snug with a little adjustment the screws and I did run heavy duty door trim around the license plate because I smashed my head once standing up and that sucker is sharp! Only thing it's missing is a tether wire so I made one. Good thing because after a tall shrub trail I noticed something swinging in a reflection at the gas station later on. License plate swinging on tether saved my plate and another $40 for a new one.

Held up well even after accident
The clips feel like they will really hold on well, I doubted them, but they are sturdy. My time with the mount was cut a bit short due to a crash, you can see the plate attached to the mount is bent, but I was able to bend it back pretty easily, as a result of the crash, an ear was broken off the clip where it snaps onto the roller, but other than that, it still holds itself on, I’m throughly impressed

Solid mount!
I was worried this may be loose of blow off, but the clips hold pretty strong. I installed a Smittybilt winch with wire cable a few months ago but did not have a license plate solution. Most of the other holders that clip on the rollers are spaced wider. The Smitybilt roller leads have a narrower spacing than most other. I did need to buy their license plate bracket to work with their fairlead. I have done several long road trips and this holder has not moved at all.

Vital for winch and bumper installs, unique and well made, with a couple potentials for improvement
I now own two of these -- one on my old Nissan truck, and another for my Tacoma. It's a vital part for a winch install, especially if combined with a hinged license plate bracket. But there's where there's potential for improvement. I regard this part as a 'problem solver' part -- it's great for putting a corrosion-free backplate on your license plate when mounting a winch where the license plate partially or fully blocks the path of the winch line. In making that happen, this part needs to be modified -- not because the design is flawed (it's excellent as-is) -- but because this part has potential and use an an unanticipated application. The greatest thing about this is how well made it is, for what it is. The aluminum is perfect thickness, the coating is durable, and the hardware is unique and excellent. A+ to Smittybilt for supplying this piece. If you can use as-is, that's awesome, but I never really want my license plate to be separable from the vehicle. During recoveries, I like as much stuff attached as possible. Hence my alternate use for this item. With a couple holes spaced to a license plate spacing, and after removing all the grip/clasps, this part makes the hinged license plate holders make immense sense. If Smitty planned for that and made it with this in mind, no drilling would be needed. I've now done this twice, and in my opinion, there's just nothing better and there's no other way. I always get questions about it -- "Where'd you get that?" -- Well, I frankensteined it together from a couple different parts. In the end -- not only would I recommend this part for its intended use, I would also recommend it in my modified use. The built-in nuts for holding the plate on are such a godsend -- vehicles have enough tiny misc hardware to get lost, and this Smittybilt plate holder fixes that. Thankful to Smittybilt for making this part, and certainly hope they continue doing so ... it's a major problem-solver for those of us who do things to the 9's.

Great, Simple Solution
Works great with my Rugged Ridge 8500 winch with roller fairlead. The front plate of the license plate mount is adjustable, allowing the mounting brackets to move horizontally (to match the rollers on your winch) side to side. The mounting brackets themselves are very strong and feel secure once snapped into place. Yes, it would be easy for someone to steal your front plate, but there are several easy ways to secure the mounting plate to your bumper and/or winch, if you're concerned about theft.

Gets the job done
Fits my smittybilt rollers on the inner-most adjustment, but just barely (you can't see it well in the pictures, but the clips can be adjusted horizontally by about 1cm). I had one of these previously and it was beaten up on some trails; I ended up re-enforcing it with some u-shaped steel bars on the reverse side, which worked very well (trail defense) until the whole thing was destroyed in a collision. As far as I can remember, the old one didn't have adjustments like this one does; so I think it was redesigned to accommodate normal-sized roller fairleads (smitty was always a bit smaller lengthwise than others).
