How many lbs of compression does this spring yield? I’m looking for 50 lbs compression to use on a cheese press.

I do not know the exact amount of pressure required to compress the spring but I do know that it isn’t 50 pounds. I would estimate it as closer to 2-3 pounds. I used mine on a washing machine start button that is plastic—so it is a very light spring.

I want to make costume antennae. Will these work? I want them to bounce about supporting styrofoam balls at the end to wiggle.

This would work fine for that. not too stiff... In my opinion

What is the spring constant?

Quoting the max safe work load doesn't answer the question and is not helpful to you customers. I have the same question: What is the spring constant? So, in the interest of trying to be helpful I'll offer this: Spring force is measure by a formula F=kX where K is the spring constant. The force pressure of the spring is equal to it's constant times the amount you compress it. If the constant K is 1lb/inch compressing it 3" will cause it to resist the compression with 3lbs of force. This formula is basic engineering 101, is useful for a specified amount of compression or extension (yes, you can overdo it), and useful for both compression and extraction springs. So knowing this you can easily determine the K value for your customers. I am looking for a spring roughly 4" long, 1/2" inside diameter and a spring constant of 8oz/inch.

I'm looking for springs to hang lightweight bouncing toys. Would something like this work?

The spring can support a maximum safe load of 4.82lbs.
