Armor Pocket Lighter, Antique Silver Plate

I wish this was my first Zippo. I “upgraded” to Armor due to my “starter” Zippo’s hinge becoming weak after too many adjustments. The steel on the Armor series is twice as thick as other Zippo products. It’s noticeable different in a good way. It’s heavy duty, and everything about it (insert) just feels like a solid investment. Why buy an ok to decent lighter, when you can double the quality for a few bucks more? Looks are rugged/solid, feel is quality in the hand. Durable, looks great, and would make an excellent gift for any reason someone would carry a quality genuine zippo lighter that won’t fall apart.

I am not going to go into the essay about how nice Zippo Lighters are and how well they are made, and how handy they can be, and the fact that they have “Armor” models that are just a tad thicker and heavier. If you read this, the odds are you know all of this already. Let’s get to the most important part: The plating on this lighter held up better than the copper plating I have on one of the other models. I still took some care —I would not to throw it into a pocket with change or nails, or what have you. But the normal use over a couple of months showed that the quality of the plating is high. So, if this is what doubts you — don’t worry. Would be nice to have an entire lighter made out of sliver, but it is expensive, and silver is softer. Having a steel core may do the lighter some good. Best of both worlds, really (at least to some extent). I collect most of the “Armor” type Zippo lighters and this is one of my favorites, because of the plating and the texture, making it look more antique than it really is. My favorite are the plain brass ones, see how they get scratches, oxidize, and age, starting to carry a bit of a story. There’s no plating to worry about, yet brass is not as strong as steel, but for normal use — it matters not. They also have the most musical cling, but the Silver Plated One — also has a nice, slightly muted cling, not much different from the steel & chromed models. If you collect such lighters, and it is on sale — grab it, you will enjoy it (; Certainly could make a fine gift. A decent Zippo to start with, certainly more interesting and unique than average gas station steel models (though, practically, there’s nothing wrong with those).

Gorgeous lighter. Armor antique silver plate zippo. The photos do not do this lighter justice. It looks rough but Its surface is smooth. The hinge and the cam was nice and tight on the one I got. The silver is soft, you can feel the silver, so nice. Armor has that weight to it that I love. If you look at the top of a armor next to the classic, you can notice the girth of the Armor in comparison. Just love this lighter. I will use this one going out. It scratches easy so take your rings off and put them on the other hand, they will scratch it.

This Antique Silver Plated Zippo is indeed plated with silver as well as a darker stain before they're tumbled and then a sealed coating to protect it all from excessive wear on the finish. You can see what all has taken place from the inside and it's very nice. She's a beauty! My more expensive $100 Zippo doesn't measure up to this on that costs around a third of the other. This one opens with a perfect pitch B chime, not a nasty sharp "dink." It comes down to case wall thickness/balance after stamping, but I believe that the plating also plays a part in the tone of it. I really like this lighter a lot and I recommend it to everyone. Also, the pictures don't do it any justice whatsoever and it most certainly doesn't look like a cheap piece of tin off an old barn as the picture looks.

Just want to put my review out there for anyone who may receive a Zippo in a similar condition to how I received mine. I got this Zippo today and IMMEDIATELY thought that I was sent a used product. The missing stickers and the marks inside the case got me thinking that this had been used before, but now I don't believe it has been. I asked a few folks that know their Zippos and they told me I was wrong, because this is just normal discoloration that you'll see on any old Zippo. Aside from the discoloration, there are no signs of wear and tear on it that you'd expect to see from a genuinely used Zippo, such as scratches on the chimney or...a charred wick. So, if you're new to Zippo (like me) and you buy one here on Amazon, don't be alarmed if you receive one that looks like this. It's still a Zippo. It still works. There's nothing wrong with it. Overall, I'm very happy with this product. The hinge feels good, the insert is snug and the finish is everything I hoped for. It is very discolored on the inside of the case, but who's looking at that, anyway?

One star off because I think there's just a little too much lateral wiggle in the lid. They could and should improve the fit/finish. Also, I bought the soft yellow flame insert and the twin jet flame insert separately, and both work well.

the best lighter ever made is zippo ben using all types for over 30 years and I've traveled to many countries every one who finds out your an American wants to know three things will you sell them levies Marlboro's or a ZIPPO this lighter is among the best I've ever purchased case is thicker and feels it lights the first time every time and the finish antique silver is awesome well worth the price

Prodotto splendido, dalla raffinata ed elegante finitura, molto più bello dal vivo che in fotografia. Arrivato in perfette condizioni, assolutamente nuovo, cerniera perfettamente allineata. Non sono in grado di prevedere la tenuta della finitura con l'utilizzo quotidiano nei mesi a venire, ma posso senz'altro dire dire che, nella mia collezione, questo Zippo Armor argento antico, occupa un posto d'onore. Prodotto assolutamente consigliato.

Ich liebe es. Ein schönes Zippo, welches schon einen Used-Look hat. Ich habe nach genau so etwas gesucht, da mir meine anderen Zippos einfach zu schade sind (obwohl zum Teil billiger). Ist auch schon mal auf die Badezimmerfliesen geknallt. Keine Kratzer und keine Macke danach. Ist also wirklich ein Armor. 😅 Merkt man aber auch sofort. Klingt auch gleich wesentlich robuster beim öffnen als die Standard-Zippos. War ein guter Kauf und ist im Vergleich zu meinen anderen Zippos (Staubfänger in der Vitrine) auch mein Daily geworden. Ich erfreue mich schon beim öffnen daran. 🙂 Ich habe es mit einem Gaseinsatz der Firma Zippo im täglichen Gebrauch und empfehle es in dieser Konstellation auch uneingeschränkt.
