Fantastic but keeps breaking, no replacement from Amazon
What a shame, this would be one of my favourite kitchen gadgets if it didn't only last ~6 months. I was given one as a gift and was so pleased with it, I bought 2 from Amazon (@£15.99 each) to give as Christmas gifts (both of the recipients also loved them). But then, like many other reviews, the cord snapped on mine after about 6 months of using it (only used for batch cooking ~ once a week), so I bought another for myself for £18.99, assuming i had gotten the cord wet accidentally when washing it. Well, after another 6 months that one has now snapped too, leaving me with two completely useless units and no warranty or option to buy replacement lids. I was so careful to look after this one. Had I been using it everyday I'd understand, but for the price, it should really withstand more use than this...too expensive/ wasteful to be buying two a year!Gets 2 stars for how AMAZING it is before it breaks

Not really fit for purpose
Not as great as I’d hoped. Thought I might be able to make breadcrumbs but it chips bits off the (small) bread chunks and can’t make much of them. this is really more suitable for chopping small bunches of soft herbs (which arguably you can just do better with a sharp knife). Also, you are not supposed to get the top part wet, because it contains the mechanism and cannot be accessed to dry out. I tried making a little marinade and with the blending action the top very easily got wet, and I was shaking liquid out of it for days, unable to clean it properly. I don’t think this is really fit for purpose because you should be able to properly clean any surface that the food touches. Surprised that a Zyliss item would be so poor.

Little stranger punches above it's weight !
This little fellow was a replacement for an electric model of another make that failed us. It had started off just fine, then within a week & fewer than some 20 operations, it failed - no power. Nothing. So after licking my wounds I ordered this manual one - simpler I thought, but I by now had doubts concerning robustness & longevity. We have often seen similar models used in cooking programmes. I needn't have worried. Still early days, but the performance is frankly astonishing. I have some anxiety concerning the wafer thin cutting blades, becoming blunt, bent or both. So our jury is still out, but I'm marking a full 5 stars. Welcome little stranger.Addendum: Still love it, in everyday use; but have a criticism: The mixing drum vertical stiffeners are on the INSIDE rather than the outside. The result is that contents cannot be fully utilised & impossible to clear out without rinsing. Bizarre.

Fab for small jobs when you have arthritis and life is too short
It took a while (and a question here) to work out how to remove the blade protector but, now I have, the product is obviously made with quality materials. It feels heavy for its size, robust and sturdy. You do have to chop the contents into 1 inch chunks or only put a few larger chunks in the bowl to blitz but life is too short to drag out the food processor and wash all the parts from that. It would be ideal if you could wash the lid but I can see, logically, that constantly immersing the lid in water would rapidly rot the string pull. Its not perfect because its not fully washable but I purchased the product to blitz carrots for my dog who has hardly any teeth so she wont be doing a kitchen inspections. I could have given it 4 stars for not being fully washable but my hands hurt so much I cant mark it down, and my dog loves carrots and can finally enjoy them raw again. If you load the bowl and the handle wont pull, give it a shake and try again. If it still doesnt work, empty half the contents out and try again.I can see that this product would be fab for coleslaw and salsa. Its perfect for blitzing carrots for my gummy bear dog and would suit many other pets with teeth problems too. If I were a seller, I would link the product in pets and in disability aids/gadgets because it has a market in both places. It would be fab if it could be immersed in water but until a product comes along that can do the job as well as this gadget, and is fully washable, I am sticking with 5 stars and loving it, loving it, loving it.

Good quality excellent little gadget
Excellent little gadget. I don't own a food processor or electric mixer as I knew the cleaning of them would be more trouble than worth so when i saw this and read on one of the reviews how easy it is to clean I thought I would give it a go. I love it. I use it almost every day for chopping anything and everything. It's great for adding extra veg to spag Bol so my grandson won't realise what he's eating it cuts everything so small. If you want chunkier veg just pull less times. And yes to clean is so easy. Just fill with the clean washing up water and pull the string a few times and it's done, brilliant. I also like the rubber stoppers on the bottom which stops the bowl from moving around. Word of warning, the blades are very sharp, I cut my finger when taking out of the packaging
