Dewalt Trimmer Hedge Bare 20V DCHT820B

At 71 years of age , 61 of which I used either manual or corded hedge trimmers. I recently purchased the dewalt trimmer and WOW the time saved and ease of use ( who knew ) that right out of the box I did 10 bushes and didn't even break a sweat. It cuts cleanly and fast. The battery barely lost any power. With the battery in the trimmer it had good balance, the weight seemed normal, noise level was nothing unusual, safety switch was fine. The only problem was the thickness of the grip, with small hands the grip was a little thick. I highly recommend this hedge trimmer.

Good value for the money. My other battery fits perfectly as well which is a bonus. Lightweight and balanced. Easy to use.

Love this trimmer it will never let you down. Hasn’t left me down and it’s been through some serious work. It’s a Dewalt what do you expect? Would absolutely recommend just keep those blades oiled and she cuts like a hot knife through butter, very clean absolutely no shredding.

Lightweight and no power cord! Lasts quite a while on a single battery (4A/h). The only gripe about it is the stupid safety switch can be difficult to use sometimes. I understand why the safety switch is on there, but I wish you could remove it, or make it similar to other dewalt tools where you can lock it in place for continued use. I may end up superglueing mine down. Cuts great and is easy to maneuver in tight places. I cut about 18 bushes (small to medium size) on 1 battery and still had extra battery to do more. Pair this with a leaf blower, and life will be easy. Highly recommend!

I have been extremely happy with my DEWALT 20V battery powered tools -- especially the Reciprocating Saw that just keeps going and going (3 years now) even though I use it for trimming our mangroves and cutting down invasive Brazilian Pepper trees. Just use the 12-inch Bosch 5 TPI Wood Cutting Reciprocating Saw Blades and tackling 10-inch limbs/trunks becomes almost effortless. Great balance, efficient blades, and consistent power provided by the 20V batteries takes the strain out of the job. Hoping for the best, with my Stihl gasoline powered hedge trimmer getting to be too heavy and my electric powered Black+Decker trimmer about worn out, I ordered this DEWALT 22-inch hedge trimmer and eagerly put it to the test. Darn! Based on the power delivered by my sawzall I expected a similar performance out of their hedge trimmer. Sadly it seemed to function at a much lower speed probably because the 22-inch blade must require more power than moving a 12-inch blade in the reciprocating saw. It is very lightweight and has great ergonomics and balance BUT it doesn't deliver the cutting power that I was hoping for. The blades are sharp but more effort is required in that the hedges I'm trimming require more than one pass to get the job done. That in effect doubles my workload when comparing it to the gasoline and corded trimmers. The lesser weight of the battery powered unit does mitigate that somewhat but it is still frustrating to have to do it twice. I will be interested in trying out a 40v unit to see if doubling the battery capability (but increasing the weight) will provide the cutting benefits I was looking for. Trying to keep my tools in the 20V range just isn't going to work Good try DEWALT, but this doesn't seem to be enough power for the intended task.

I have always used only gas tools and have thought that battery tools are extremely underpowered. Most of the tools that I use as a homeowner are of commericial grade. This hedge trimer has changed my mind. Its weight is half of a gas trimmer and there is no pulling to start it. I would say that it has plenty of power and cuts my hedges almost as fast as my gas trimmer. Only on some very thick branches which really should not be cut with a hedge trimmer does it have any problem. You do not need to even use a large battery with it, the smallest battery will last for at least 20 minutes which is more than enough cutting time to trim as much as I want because you spend most of your time collecting the cuttings, not doing the trimming so with 15 minutes of battery life you are working for well over an hour and can charge your second small battery. The fact that it is so much lighter makes all the difference in the world in terms of arms not getting tired, and not getting a back ache. Also, because it is so much lighter you can control it better and am not as tired I believe that it is MUCH SAFER than my old gas model. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE DEWALT BATTERIES THIS PRODUCT IS A NO BRAINER.

This has turned out to be a very useful and versatile tool. I have a small farm and bush-hog walking paths along the fence lines. There's a lot of wild plant growth around the fence including wild blackberry vines, wild rose bushes, honeysuckle vines, small trees, etc. Often these plants spread along the edge of the paths, leading to scratches and impact hazards while mowing along the area with a tractor. I was able to walk the path and trim/clear the excess brush/vines/small limbs efficiently and easily. The trimmer also works very well on shrubs and is lightweight, yet has a long enough cutting bar to be a pleasure to use. Since I already had a number of 20V Max DeWalt tools and batteries, this was a no-brainer. I also plan to use this to top some older blueberry bushes, since the tool can cut up to 3/4-inch in diameter twigs/canes. I suggest that you spray the blades with lubricant after each use (I like Jack's Spray for this purpose), point the blades toward the ground and run the tool for about 5-10 seconds to spread the lube and then carefully wipe the surfaces down prior to putting it away. Contrary to some on-line comments, my tool came with a plastic scabbard. Very happy with this purchase.

Having grown tired of each tool I own using a different battery, I began replacing everything with Dewalt products. So, when my underpowered inexpensive trimmer needed to be replaced, I decided to splurge on this one from Dewalt. I am impressed! It is powerful, taking much less time to cut through branches up to about 1/2” (1 cm) in diameter. Using the large 20 V LIon battery, I have not had to stop midway through a job to swap out batteries. It is well-balanced, even with the large battery attached. It is about 50 percent more expensive than cheaper models, and the battery and charger are not included (which was perfect for me as I already have them for use with my other Dewalt tools). But the time and frustration this trimmer save is more than worth the cost. (Another plus that I hadn’t expected: Mine came with a blade sheath, which is very nice.)

This is a great tool. It's the first cordless hedge trimmer I've owned, so I wasn't sure what to expect as far as power and battery life. I picked up a pair of 5 AH batteries on sale from another vendor and this is a great combination. The tool is quite light and fairly well balanced (with the heavier battery) and one battery lasted for about two hours of relatively heavy use (my hedge REALLY needed a trim by the time I got around to ordering this tool). The power was at least on par with the last corded hedge trimmer I had, but that one was pretty cheap. Having two batteries is not quite enough to keep you working non-stop, using one battery while charging the other, but it gave me an excuse to take a break (hey, I'm an office worker now, don't judge me). I've only used the trimmer for a total of about 5 or 6 hours, so I won't comment on durability, but I'm really impressed so far.

This is a beast and I love it!! It is razor sharp, reasonably well balanced when the battery is attached, handles well and the battery charge is fully adequate for my needs.’ So why only a four star? Well with a blade this sharp it should have come with a blade guard, like its long-handled brother. I had to rig up a blade guard to keep myself and others from accidental injury, like just casually brushing against it. The guard should have been included in a tool with this price tag.

Awesome hedge trimmer! I chose the 20V instead of the 40V for the lighter weight of the tool and the battery. I needed something even my mom could use since she's the one doing most of the gardening (I take care of the heavy duty stuff). It was super easy to maneuver with and cuts so smoothly and with a 2ah battery is good enough to finish off a small yard full of shrubs with no problem. Build quality is excellent and had no issues with it and I have had it for a year now. The handle is comfortable to hold on to for extended use and a 22" blade is a good length to tackle even the bigger shrubs. If I had to complain about something it would be the plastic sleeve that it came with feels a bit cheap.

Il faut toujours le tenir et, avec les mouvements (bas vers le haut) et de torsion du poignet le doigt fini par glisser du bouton et le taille-haie s'arrête. La batterie (5 Ah) offre un excellent niveau de puissance et pourra être utilisée pour plusieurs coupes sur une seule charge (vos résultats peuvent varier selon la taille de votre haie). Pour terminer, une belle surprise, un étui pour la lame était aussi fourni avec le taille-haie.
