Q: Each customer photo the step is not level. What is the issue and has it been corrected?

They are level if you put it on correctly. Some guys just want to put it in the hitch and not use the added bracket lock that keeps it sturdy and locked in the hitch tightly.

Q: Why does this product rattle after installation?

One reason can be that the 2" Square hitch does not fit tightly into the receiver. This is a common problem and actually makes it easy to insert the hitch end into the receiver. But this does allows the hitch to "rattle" in the receiver. My hitch step came with a bracket that locks the hitch tight to the receiver so it does not rattle, and it works well even though it is an extra piece of hardware to install. According to the picture, it is the "U" shaped bracket and plate on the left. You should check to see if that came with the step bumper and install it to stop the "rattling". If it did not come with your step, you might check with Amazon to supply or try checking with a hitch installer such as uHaul and see if they have one you can purchase.

I will remove it and paint it black so it's all black. Easy to install. I would recommend you insert all items including lock and then tighten everything after its in. It's easier and everything falls in place easier.

It will work

I ordered this step to use at our duck club to put on the back of one of the Argo's. It would be nice if the stem was longer at least for my application, however on a truck it would be fine. I did have to knock out one of the slugs in the pin holes. Not really an issue for me but I'm sure some would have issue with that. All and all a good product and serves it's purpose.

Sturdy

I use this to help me load my cargo shell on top of my suv and it supports me perfectly. I weigh 250lbs and it is very stable. Plenty of room to maneuver while standing on it. The black paint looks to be standing up to the elements just fine, no signs of weathering or rust in the last few months. Overall, the build quality is very good, and I recommend it.

Beats carrying a step stool

I own a 2018 Ford Escape with a roof rack, and that roof rack on several occasions every year carries my Thule sport cargo carrier on it. Getting into the Thule as well as getting it ready for installation can be a pain. But since I have a two inch trailer hitch this step is natural for me to use! This step goes into the hitch, I install the pin and I now have a perfect step. I also have a bracket that helps cinch the step's tongue tightly to the hitch so there is not rattling / anything coming loose.I was impressed with the build quality for the money. I can easily recommend this as it does what it is designed to do and for very little money really.
