Huiliduo Gold Plating 18 Note Musical Movement-Different Tunes Available (Tune is Always with me from Spirited Away)

Personally, I really loved the Musical Movement I bought (the tune was Always With Me from Spirited Away).At first I imagined this would be a cheap and fragile product, but much to my surprise, it is actually very well built and solid (the spring is very fluent, the tines are well placed and don't budge horizontally even the slightest as it plays).One thing I did notice (and actually scared me at first) was that the first few times the tune was played, the tines would jump over a section and make a horrible sound. I then realized it was due to the fact that this Movement had never been used before, and after playing the tune about 5 times, it finally stopped jumping that section and played the whole tune beautifully.The sound it emits is splendid. It is extremely quiet just by itself (Barely audible really), but as soon as I screwed it to a music box I had built, the wood amplified the sound quite a lot, making this musical movement perfect for hand-made music boxes.Also, and speaking about Screws, one thing I did not notice before buying was that the musical movement has several little holes at the bottom. These are actually the size of little screws which were simply perfect for the music box I made.Overall, it's a really good product (considering the price), and I recommend it to anyone who intends on building a music box of any sort. Had higher expectations than I should have.First off the gold plating, yea it's probably not gold. I can almost say with 100% certainty it's some gold tone plating. I expected that.Secondly, the pictures leave you to believe that it might be a sankyo mechanism. It's not.Next, the tone is very quiet. Don't expect the YouTube level of sound from the people with this movement. This is something that was the biggest let down.Quality. The gears are plastic, the pins holding the gears are plastic. The gears attached to the spring are plastic. If you are building an heirloom piece, I do not see these lasting very long.The mechanism doesn't take much of a wind, the play time is below average maybe 4 revolutions.The biggest selling point is the fact that some tunes are unique to this brand.

liked the tune, looks, but unfortunately did not take too many windings before the 1st spring slips (the 1 as it's wound gets tighter to play)

Ordered a couple mechanisms to compare; this one was so quiet you could barely hear it. I fear putting it under a plastic protector in a music box will muffle it to udder silence. Looks like a decent mechanism, just not enough volume ...

Very cheaply made, not recommended.

Bought this for a wooden music box project.It's very well built. Made in China, but it's not going to break.You can install an arm to interrupt the movements so it will stop playing when the box is open.I bought the Spirited Away tune version. My friend loves Spirited Away, and it was so awesome to find one that plays the theme song from the movie.

solid, played out of box, only wish they had larger more elaborate versions.

The movement is quality construction and provides great sound. My grand daughter will love it!
