Hoping it's effective.
This stuff has a very unpleasant odor. Almost makes catfish bait smell nice by comparison. But.... that's likely a good thing. The main ingredient is "putrescent" (rotten) egg whites, along with clove and garlic oil. It's only moderately smelly as you apply it, but avoid getting too much on you and do not get your nose close to the plant for a day or so afterwards as it really gives it a rotten egg scent. You'll also be washing your hands particularly hard after use. ha. May want to use gloves.I was gone an hour around dusk and returned to see the entire top portion of a major tomato branch eaten off after it had been on the plant 3 days. I later found a hornworm on this section of the plant, and that may have been the culprit, but I still believe it was a deer for two reasons. One, it was quite high on the plant, nearly 5 ft off the ground, and secondly, because so much had been eaten. I don't think a single hornworm could eat the growing end of a branch in only an hour. It was a lot of leaves and stems and blossoms. So it might not keep deer away completely. And it recommends only applying every week or two. This stuff has a very unpleasant odor. It eliminates that tomato plant smell and replaces it with a nasty sulfur/rotten egg scent which you'll smell if you get near the plant to inspect for insects, suckers, hornworms, etc. I'm not positive if it repels deer, but it sure repels me.Since the alternative is either hard to manage netting or an 8ft tall fence, it's this stuff or nothing. I think it's definitely better than nothing.

Smells back but it works!
Works well for us keeping those deer from feasting on our evergreens. Be sure to wear gloves, as the smell will linger on your hands should it get on them. Reapply as necessary.

It works really well!
I use this deer spray every year. It is very smelly and keeps the deer away from my plants. Would recommend.

Spray bottle needs an upgrade
Spray nozzle is inferior. It is made of cheap plastic, the head swivels 180 degrees, and there is no appreciable difference between the spray and stream adjustment. Love the product, but not the dispenser

This stuff works!
I put this stuff on in the beginning of the summer and waited the entire summer to do my review. Here's how it went. I sprayed this on my hostas, which last year the deer made their personal salad bar. Okay I got to be up front here and tell you this stuff stinks to high heaven. It smells like some sort of urine. Really strong. I told my husband to be careful not to get it on his clothes because he kept walking past the hostas and I said if you get this on your clothes, I'm throwing them away. They will not be brought into the house. But I had high hopes. Day two I go out to check the hostas and there are so many flies there I can't believe it. Everywhere. But only on the leaves where I sprayed - they didn't bother me at all. I thought uh-oh. This might not be what I want. Day three still flies. Maybe a little bit less. Day four flies but less. Day five until the end of the summer, no smell and my hostas made it all the way through the season unscathed . I never had to spray them again and all the leaves are still there! I didn't believe that I wouldn't have to spray them again after rain, but you don't! And we got a lot of rain in Michigan this year. So I would say five stars and I would definitely purchase this again. Thank you for saving my hostas. Next year. I'm putting it on more of my plants because obviously the deer moved on to the other plants in my yard.

Recommended for Roses -- Best Deer Repellent
I'm a Rosarian and a Chemist, but anyone with common sense, who reads directions, can apply it successfully. If the spray is used properly every week to 10 days, it is reliably effective. I've used it for the past 14 years for a garden of 38 beautiful roses, and we live in a Deer paradise!Wear plastic gloves and handle this with care. Shake the bottle, then adjust the nozzle for a spray or stream setting. Apply a fine spray or stream from an extended arm's length, from an UP-wind stance.Set the sprayer using the tip of the Nozzle is adjusted by 1/4th turn: OFF --> Fine Spray ON ---> OFF --> Stream ON ---> OFF. If you have an outside water spigot, wash off the bottle and spray tip, then wipe it dry with a paper towel. Store it in an airtight plastic bag, and tie the top.For Roses spray the whole plant the first time. Afterwards, every week, all you need to do is spray the buds, any new shoots, and the tender top new growth of the rose bush. Apply in the late evening.Spray all surfaces of the Hosta Plants. For newly planted bulbs, spray the top soil after the hole is covered.
