These batteries get hot when I charge them. Anyone know why?

Lithium burns at 3632 degrees fahrenheit. When lithium batteries rupture, it sends pieces of lithium at that temperature all around the battery. For comparison, Napalm burns at 1832 degrees fahrenheit. Do i need to explain further why charging non-rechargeable lithium batteries is an absolutely terrible idea?

Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries are not rechargeable. Although they would probably work well in an AAA-powered motion detector, these batteries must be disposed of (preferebly, recycled) when depleted, and keeping your motion detector powered with these would be expensive. Primary (non-rechargeable) lithium batteries like these are best for infrequently-used devices, especially ones exposed to high or low temperatures, like an emergency flashlight that you keep in your car. You would probably be happier with rechargeable NiMH batteries for a constantly-used device like a motion detector.

what is the voltage? Are these lithium rechargeable?

Not rechargeable for the standard user. They maintain a steady 1.5V compared to typical alkaline, well deserving of the "longest lasting AA/AAA battery" title.

It says alkaline in the description..

No these are Lithium based batteries. They last much longer in electronics and do not leak. They don't drain slowly with weakening performance and reliability as alkaline batteries do. These Engerizer lithium work at full strength for a long time and then they simply die, a clear indication to replace the set.

Energizer Lithium Batteries are the Best

Have used a lot of different batteries over the years, but these are the best I've ever used. Last incredibly long and put out a lot more power than so many others. I know they're rated for 1.5 volts but everything I put them in works so much better. Flashlights are brighter and my travel alarm display is too.👍🏻

Excellent for cold weather applications

excellent battery for general use, delivers long service; but particularly good for cold weather applications, outdoor instruments, etc. Doesn't drain as quickly.
