Explanation(/Unnecessary and Absurdly Long Explanation That No-one Asked For): The Raspberry Pi platform is built for Linux. If you're installing Linux in the praesentem diem, then the filesystem you're using is ext4. The ext4 filesystem can theoretically handle storage devices with a size of approximately 13,089,424,140 GB.

EOF: So, in reality (rather than just theoretical), the ideal candidate for the best version of "maximum" SD storage limit, I would say whatever gives you the best performance at the highest byte count is how one could judge that, or preform a quick scrape of the top 10 Raspberry Pi forums; but that would be totally unnecessary. So, after a the site scraper (I clumsily cobbled together) finished grabbing the regex for common expressions for "##GB", "### GB" (ie: /'\d{1,3}.?\wB'/), I was able to (clumsily) find the most positively mentioned storage sizes. Most (by a huge majority) 32GB and 64GB, the numbers were almost the exact amount). More people to say 32GB is the best for most applications if you're not going to need to store huge files on the SD card; and 64-128GB if you need to store large files and cannot use an external storage device (USB flash drives/hard drives). There are a few peppered positive mentions of 256GB but when I crosschecked positive and negative mentions (as I did with each storage size) the numbers were about equal. It seems to really just depend on why you're using it and for what application.

Is there a light that lights up when it gets power?

If the power light does not come, this could indicate that a micro USB card is not installed, or, a non formatted to raspian (or other linux distro) is not present.  Nevertheless, if you do not have a microUSB in the PI Zero, the power light will not come on.

Where does the heat sink go? Is it just stuck to the top of the processor or does it go somewhere else on the board?

can you use this to run retopie for a bartop arcade?

For better performance, especially with graphics-hungry games, I'd recommend a Pi 3.  The Pi Zero can run Retropie, and it will work with older games, but you'll have a better experience with the more powerful Pi 3.
