Carroll Shelby took the idea of early sports cars and fitted them up with superchargers and cool aesthetic upgrades. Because of this he could be thought to be the grandfather of muscle cars, especially if he was modding them with supercharged engines way back in 1964 and went on to apply the same treatment to the Mustang a couple of years later.
