Must have hiking backpack!
I recently purchased this Osprey Talon 22L Men's Hiking Backpack, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice. This product deserves a solid 5-star rating!! This is my first Osprey backpack, and it left a remarkable impression. The level of support this backpack provides is truly outstanding and it fits me perfectly. It's designed to comfortably carry the weight and essentials needed for a day hike, and it does so with ease. The 22L capacity provides ample space for all my day hike essentials, and the quality of the bag is exceptional. I have a 3L Platypus Big Zip EVO Reservoir and I was able to fit it in perfectly without any issues, ensuring I stay well-hydrated during my hikes. The hip belt pockets are a fantastic addition, perfect for conveniently storing snacks or other small items you want to access quickly. The side pockets for water bottles are also a great feature, adding to the convenience of this backpack. I must also mention the strong and durable zippers that give me confidence that this backpack will last for many adventures to come. What makes this review even more special is that this backpack accompanied me on my trip to the Canadian Rockies, making my hiking experience in the Canadian Rockies truly unforgettable. Overall, I absolutely love this backpack!! :D

perfect all-purpose backpack
I used the women's version of this pack (the Tempest 20) for years; it's still perfectly functional, but quite worn after lots of hiking and traveling. I picked up this one last summer before moving abroad, and I couldn't be happier with it! It serves as my everyday laptop bag, hiking pack, and personal item for travel. It's lightweight but super sturdy - aside from the logo wearing off, the pack is still in perfect condition after close to a year of daily use. It's spacious enough to work as my only bag for 3-5 day trips but still fits under any plane seat, and the harness system and back panel make it comfortable for long travel days and long hikes. I recently picked up the 33L version to tackle the Camino de Santiago this summer.

Great Fit & Quality
I was looking for good quality day pack that is very comfortable to wear across all the seasons. After doing a ton of reasearch, I went for the Osprey Talon 22L and have been thrilled. This backpack is incredibly well constructed and designed. The adjustable shoulder straps and hipbelt are very comfortable and the back panel is very breathable and keeps you cool. The storage compartments are ample and the zippers are very durable. This is an excellent quality pack and I would highly recommend this brand and style. Before purchasing, just be sure to use Osprey's guide regarding sizing. I went for the L/XL and it is very comfortable. Cheers & Safe Exploring!

Excellent day pack
Pros: it is comfortable, light, is torso-adjustable, has a bladder sleeve, hip pockets, and a great stretchy outer pocket... much like the big Osprey packs. And at 22L, it has enough space for all the food, water, and weather gear you want to carry.

Osprey Talon 22
I've owned just about every major brand of daypack on the market, and I keep coming back to Osprey. Finding the perfect daypack has been something of an obsession for me, and I think I finally found it in the Talon. Hiking is always a balance between how much weight you want to carry vs how prepared you want to be, and I think this pack strikes a good middle ground. This pack is just big enough for a 2-2.5 liter bladder, raincoat, light jacket, gloves, beanie, pack rainfly, first aid, knife, snacks, and camera. I initially used the Osprey Manta as a daypack and wanted something a bit smaller that would carry closer to the body, and the Talon is perfect. The backpanel is not as breathable as the Manta is, however you won't be soaked in sweat like some other dyneema or nylon bags. The hip belt is perfect, not too big or small, and it keeps the load on your hips. The shoulder straps fit great and are breathable as well, they also have a strap for the bladder tube. There is a built in whistle on the chest strap, so that's a plus since not only do you not need to carry one, but you can't lose it. I do have one complaint on this pack, and it's that the bladder is a real pain to get in. In the Manta, there's a separate zippered pouch for the bladder, and it goes in super easy, even when the pack is full. The Talon, not so much. I find it best to unload most of the main compartment to get the bladder in, then reloading the main. If a zipper was added down one side with one detachable shoulder tension strap, this problem could be alleviated, but it would add weight to the pack. Overall, The Talon is great with the exception of that tight bladder opening. I would recommend this pack for someone who counts their grams and wants to go farther, it's a good summit pack and a great smaller sized daypack. If you carry more gear or weight I would recommend the Manta, it carries weight much better with its frame, and it is also more ventilated, but it does sit farther away from your body.

The Backpack That Can Carry Your Dreams (And Snacks)
Okay, folks, let me tell you about the Osprey Talon 22L Men’s Hiking Backpack in Eclipse Grey—this backpack is the real MVP of my hiking adventures, and quite possibly the best decision I’ve ever made after choosing to wear socks with my sandals (don’t judge). If you’ve been waiting for the ultimate blend of comfort, utility, and the ability to make you look like a seasoned adventurer, this is your backpack. First off, the fit is on point. I’ve got the Large/X-Large size, and it feels like this backpack was made just for me. It hugs my body like it’s giving me a supportive, gentle back massage while also providing enough room to carry all the essentials (snacks, water, emergency snacks, and a jacket I’ll never use but might need). The hipbelt is a game-changer, because it takes the weight off your shoulders so you can walk around like you just spent years mastering the art of hiking without any actual effort. The design? Oh, it’s sleek. It’s Eclipse Grey, which sounds like something you’d hear in a high-budget sci-fi film. It’s like a “cool guy” backpack that says, “Yeah, I’m here to hike, but I also look like I belong in a mountain-climbing magazine.” The zippers glide so smoothly that I almost thought I was opening the door to Narnia—no resistance, just pure magic. Now, let’s talk compartments. I have enough space for my lunch (read: protein bars), extra layers, a first aid kit I hope I never need, and one thousand tiny pockets that I can never remember the exact purpose of, but I’m convinced they hold the secrets to the universe. Whether it’s my phone, wallet, or trail mix, everything has its place. This backpack practically organizes my life. The real magic happens when you’re climbing up that steep hill or trekking through the wilderness. You know that feeling when your backpack feels like it’s weighing you down, making you question life choices? Yeah, that’s not gonna happen with the Osprey Talon. It’s designed to keep the weight balanced, leaving me wondering if I’m secretly part mountain goat. Bottom line: The Osprey Talon 22L is an absolute must-have for anyone looking to hike in style, comfort, and convenience. It’s durable, reliable, and makes me look like I know what I’m doing (even if I’m just walking to the local coffee shop). 10/10, highly recommend! It might just make you the coolest person on the trail.

Great Little Pack
This is a great little pack for day hikes. It is also nice as a personal item for air travel.

Great fit, great adjustability, very comfortable
This is a 4.5 star review rounded up. The bag is not perfect, but for my needs it’s close. The main compartment is easy to access and feels larger than 22l would suggest. The hip pockets are generously sized and mostly easy to open and close. The under-arm pole carry system is fantastic, although i do wish there was a better secondary carry for putting them more out of the way. It carries weight extremely well. I tested about a dozen bags in this category and found most of them either dug in or pinched at the straps up at my neck/traps, or the hip belt would ride up with movement. The talon was the easiest to adjust to the correct torso length and once dialed in i didn’t feel any pressure from the straps and the hip belt stayed put. It carries weight extremely well, with less bounce than most other packs i tested. I recently took it on a 10 mile winter hike loaded to about 15lbs and i had no issues with pain or fatigue like i did with my previous pack. As a bonus, even though it is not a waterproof bag, despite hours of hiking in snowing conditions it stayed mostly dry. My only complaints are: the reservoir hanger is osprey-specific. I had tried another talon 22 in a different size that had a much better generic clip style hanger and was disappointed to find this one was different. The strap pocket is a nice idea but poorly executed. The way it folds over onto itself to snap closed really limits what can be put in there. I found a chapstick tube to be about all i could comfortably fit. And the reservoir sleeve, while nice to be kept separate from the main compartment, has a very narrow opening, and is not easy to get a full reservoir inserted. It’s also permanently open at the top and i can see debris getting in, although i haven’t had that issue. In summary, compared to the dozen or so other 20-25l bags i tested, the talon is the most comfortable, best fitting, best at carrying weight, and best features of any of them. I can live with the few annoyances I’ve found.

Great pack for day hikes
I have taken this pack with me on about 20 different day hikes. It's great! Comfortable, light, and generally good for quick access to items you need. The side pockets are at just the right position to grab your water, and the hip belt makes it easy to access snacks or tools you regularly need. I can fit two 1l bottles in the side pockets, layers up to a rain shell and down jacket, gloves, boonie, beanie, electronics (battery, gimbal), a bladder with 1l of extra water and my lunch, with some space to spare. When I have it all packed for a day hike, the total weight is around 5-6kg. There are two minor complaints. First, there is no bottom access. So anything you put at the bottom can only be accessed if you pull everything out, or squeeze it past everything if you have the space to. Second, this pack doesn't come with a rain cover, and it doesn't have a dedicated spot to store one. A minor gripe, but I would advise buying a rain cover along with the pack, just so you don't forget when it rains on the trail. Overall, a very good pack, and one I will be using for many years, I bet!

Perfekter Wanderrucksack für jedes Abenteuer! 🎒⛰️

Osprey Backpack 22L
A nicely sized backpack for day trips and commuting. However, the quality is disappointing. After two years of light use, the inner lining is peeling. This is not the level of quality I expected from an Osprey backpack.
