Will these work on a Martin acoustic/electric guitar?

The Martin acoustic guitar owners I know, all use Martin strings. The Elixir. 9/42 coated strings work great on my Stratocaster and they last much longer than other brands.

Is the 3rd string wound?

Not in the.009 Guage set, but I can't attest to the heavier sets of Elixir's, some brands may indicate a wound 3rd...

Can you use these with locking tuner keys?

Absolutely. Even easier and faster string changes.

Is the coating a different material than the polyweb and nanoweb? Or is it the same material, just thinner?

I think it's thinner, at least it feels thinner...
