Alvvays

Great album! There's a 60s beach sound with every song being catchy. It also reminds me of early 90s shoegazer music since there's a melancholy mood throughout the album. Favorite songs are "Archie, Marry Me" and "Party Police". I got this in vinyl and it sounds great. It's 180 gram on powder blue vinyl. It comes with a mp3 card. The label on the vinyl does not have the track listing on it unfortunately so you need to use the back of the album sleeve to know what song comes next.

What a surprisngly solid and confident debut album from a very promising young band straight out of Canada. Alvvays (pronounced al·ways) is a wonderful mix of Camera Obscura's melancholy and Best Coast's sun-soaked atmosphere. Though the listener can easily identify the band's influences, Alvvays manages to sound fresh. There's plenty of sweet jams to enjoy. There's not a single dud here - play this one straight through, and then hit repeat! Though I truly love all of these tunes, "Party Police" takes the cake for me. This is easily one of this year's best songs, albeit hidden under the radar. It's such a wonderfully realized lovelorn ballad with plenty of hooks and reverb. I can certainly recommend Alvvays and hope you give them a chance if this review has piqued your interest. They may be your favorite new band, as they are mine. I'm excited to see and hear what this band can do next.

These are nine beautiful, sun-soaked singles that make up a hell of a heart-wrenching summer soundtrack. The melodies are wonderful, the lo-fi production works, and Molly Rankin's writing is honest and sincere without ever being cloying or self-indulgent. This sucker has been on repeat all summer, and I urge anyone curious to give it a shot to worm it's way into you. It also doesn't hurt that my vinyl copy was pressed on blue/white swirl wax, which is awesome. 5 stars, and a million feels.

Everything said about this album is true. It’s great plain and simple. But I have a love/hate relationship with the vinyl incarnation. It is a 180 gram pressing and nicely blue, but I just can’t report that it sounds significantly better on vinyl. Yet, the included download card allows you to get a copy in WAV so essentially it’s the album on CD which is very nice for creating ALAC files. Both versions sound very good, but I was just expecting a little more from buying it on vinyl. Still absolutely recommended.

I see that some came as ice blue, but mine came just like the picture. Would be five stars if there wasn't a small defect which makes a skip a few seconds in one song.

Greatest album debut since the Beatles. If you 'love' music you've got to hear this band, excellent songs beautifully produced for the cutting edge of music today. Could be the best new trend in music, since the coining of the phrase, 'Rock 'n' Roll'. Sounds like the coming thing , and I LOVE it, and you will, too! GET ONE TODAY!!!

I really like the music from this band. I'm a new listener of Alvvays, but from what I have heard so far, I absolutely love them.

Llegó en buen estado y sin ningún problema, la calidad de sonido esta en función de tu sistema de sonido.

No me canso de escucharlo. De los mejores discos de indie-pop que he escuchado últimamente. Redondo de principio a fin! Tardó unas semanas en llegar, pero a un precio de risa (10 euros + gastos, no venía a través de Amazon) y en perfecto estado. En venta directa de Amazon estaba por unos escandalosos 24 euros! Señores de Amazon: estaría bien ajustar los precios de los vinilos como antaño hacían, porque son a veces abusivos.

The first album from the Canadian Maritime indie power pop punk band with another Rankin as its excellent lead singer. One catchy tune after another on regular rotation in the car. Keep making music folks. That's an order.
