Better tent than it should be!
One day, I would like just to review tents because there isn't much information out there except for sponsored reviews that show how it is set up and some reviews of whether they leak, or how much they weigh when putting them on your backpack before you hike for 1000 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Unfortunately, I still have to provide for my family, so I will review the ones I get as I get them. This tent is solid. It has high-quality parts and pieces, goes up easily, and is a good tent overall. When I got it, I wanted something I could take out that was small and practical for one or two night excursions without bringing all the extra stuff. Still, I wanted it to be breathable and have enough room to set up a cot in because I'm old enough that I don't like sleeping on the ground anymore. When I opened the box and saw the aluminum poles, I knew I was in for a surprise. Like most guys do, I didn't break out the instructions and decided just to see if I could get the thing pitched (inside, of course, because don't we all set up a tent to test in the living room first?). Within maybe five minutes, it was set up as a basic tent. The tent is a large tub bottom with a mesh upper 3/4 and doors on both ends. If you're summer camping and there's no rain in the forecast, you can sleep like you're not in a tent without waking up looking like you have mumps from the mosquitoes attacking you all night. If there is a chance of rain or you just want to stay warm if it's cooler out, you can put on the rain fly that covers the entire tent, with side vents, and vestibules on both ends. It doesn't get stuffy inside because the airflow from the vents and physical separation between the mesh and the fly let air move around. Everything about it feels high quality, which hasn't changed in the 20+ times I have used it. It never feels like I need to bring a backup with me. It is an excellent tent for a reasonable price that you will have for years to come.

You Won’t Be Disappointed!!!
I decided to try camping for the first time and the TETON Sports Mountain Ultra 2 person tent seemed like a good place to start. The reviews on Amazon were good, and the price seemed reasonable. I did some additional research on the tent also, and those reviews were generally very positive. It got used for the first time over 3 nights last week. The first camping trip was two nights, and the tent was used by my sister-in-law and nephew. My wife and I used a different tent. They reported that the TETON Sports Mountain Ultra worked fine; they had enough room, the tent didn’t leak during a moderate rain, had good ventilation, and no condensation. The setup and takedown were easy and quick. Everything fit back into the pouch with no trouble. After being home for a day, my wife left on a girls’ trip, so I decided to do a one night camping trip to try the TETON myself. I was impressed. The design is very good, and there is adequate airflow due to multiple vents that can be propped open. The fabric of the tent and fly seem to be of good quality, and the zippers worked smoothly. I experienced some light rain, and I had no leaks. There is good storage inside with a hammock net connected to the ceiling by its 4 corners. There is also a hook that was perfect for hanging a small lantern. I’m very happy with the TETON Sports Mountain Ultra Tent, and I highly recommend it.

Great value, very well made tent, cheap tent stakes
I bought a 2 person mountain Ultra a few months ago, and found it very well made except for the stakes. I liked it enough that I just purchased the 4 person. I use them for motorcycle camping. For that, the 4 person makes more sense. It is only a bit larger packed, but has roughly 2x the interior volume. Both are quite heavy for backpacking, but are just about perfect for motocamping. About the stakes. Just plan on buying better tent stakes. I couldn't understand why Teton Sports only includes 10 stakes when the setup is best with 12....until I tried to set it up with 12 (borrowing 2 from the other tent). The 2 side stakes immediately pulled out of the ground with just a gentle breeze. TS knows they just won't work. So much about this tent is above expected quality, it is disappointing that TS cheaped out on the stakes. Just budget another $10 or so for better stakes and you will have a great tent. Super waterproof (especially with a coating of Scotch Guard on the rainfly), great ventilation, even with the rainfly fulling buttoned down. Very happy with both, but I just like the greater space in the 4 person. BTW, because they are essentially the same design, they take about the same time to put up. Maybe 10% longer for the 4 person getting the rainfly in place.

Length Too Short, Good Value
My quick summary is, avoid if you are tall. For youth and scouts car and front country camping it's perfect. I recommend it to many first-timers. Its a quality build, very high value for money. If you are thinking about this for your scout who might have to backpack this in the future, understand what you are buying in terms of weight and material before you purchase this as a one and done solution for their scout career. Read on if you are further interested. First the good. Seems well made, stiching looks good, no loose threads. Didn't leak a drop in multiple nights of heavy rain. Ventilation worked great, much less condensation than other tents I have, and other people's tents who were in same conditions as me. When properly staked out the zippers in the mesh inner work smooth and didn't bind up, easy one hand use. In fact they work better than some much more expensive tents that I have. I can't speak too longevity or durability, as I've only spent five nights in it, but the materials and construction make me think that you can get many many uses out of this tent if properly cared for. It has nice aluminum poles, nice guy lines to stake the tent out. Just purchase some better stakes when you order the tent. What I don't like is the tent length. Unfortunately, I would have to advise that if you are a tall person to avoid this tent. The dimensions say 78 inches, and it is exactly 78" on the outside of the floor when pulled tight with stakes. Unfortunately this is just too short for many sleeping pads. You can see from my attached photos that my large comfortable Kelty pad, which is also at 78" is pushing out on either side of the tent inner. I was very worried about this in the rainstorm, however the bathtub floor did keep my pad dry. I'm not a tall person, only 5' 8", so this isn't a really big problem for me. However, if you are a taller person the head and feet of your sleeping bag are going to be in the mesh on either side of the tent. The widest part is at the very bottom and of course the tent slopes inward as it moves up, so this exacerbates the problem. My shorter 75 inch backpacking pad fits in here no problem. If you were thinking about putting a cot in here, forget about it unless it's for a child. Also, the pockets sewn into the mesh inner are, in my opinion, basically worthless. They are very slender and tall, anything put in there falls to the bottom, and I have a difficult time getting my hand down to the bottom to retrieve anything. A child should be able to get their smaller hand in no problem. However, it does come with a mesh gear loft, which was very useful. Also, this is advertised as a backpacking tent. I guess if you wanted to carry this much weight, you could use it for that. It does pack up fairly small, but in reality a true backpacking tent would be about half this weight. It's not really a problem with a tent, as much as marketing. It's very understandable that a tent at this price point, made with these materials is going to be heavy. That's the trade-off for getting an inexpensive tent. I bought this tent to reduce use on my expensive ultralight sill/nylon backpacking tents while I was car camping with my son in Cub scouts. Multiple nights every month will put a beating on anything, and this inexpensive tent is perfect for that. Especially because most tents get damaged from careless scouts playing. I would much rather them damage a $100 tent instead of a $500 tent. If you understand what you're buying, it's a great purchase.

SURVIVED OREGON DOWN POUR
Survived the oregon fall down pour!! This is a great tent. A little smaller than I thought but it was easy to assemble and pack away. Love that there is a different colored clip to know which corner attaches where, that was a very helpful design. No leaks, no bugs, no holes. Highly recommend!

Plesantly Surprised
I own a Durston 2 Person tent. A great light-weight tent that requires two trekking poles to stand up. I would use it on long backpacking trips. The Teton is heavier and I would not take it on long backpacking trips. However, it is a very nice tent that is actually easier to set up than the Durston. It is very roomy inside and has four pocket to store your things. It sits tall enough where I am not hunched over. I can easiely stretch out. I am 6’2”. It comes with heavy duty shepherd hook (not flimsy ones). The tent can be set up with or without the rain fly. The rain fly has a colored clip so you know it is positioned correctly and tie plenty of down points.. The tent has two doors with large vestibules. The tent is seal treated and no rain gets in. The zippers are solid. It comes with a very nice storage bag that easily accomodates the tent, the rainfly, poles, and tent stakes. I am happy with this purchase.

Worth the cost
Well worth the cost. Easy to put up, seams are taped and sealed, no loose stitching, zippers functioned fine, very fine mesh, well ventilated no condensation issues, and bone dry waterproof rainfly and inner bathtub. This 4 person tent is for car camping only. Replaced the tent stakes, but usually do on all my tents. Two adults with 2 small dogs with all our gear and we had plenty of room. Good head room with room to stretch. In fact next time I’m bringing 2 low profile cots for us to sleep on. Light to moderate rain for 2 days and a night and the inner tent stayed bone dry. Good 3 season tent. Exceptional tent for the cost. It compares with more expensive brands, which aren’t always well made compared to this Teton. I would recommend to any of my friends and family.

Good tent
Coming from a 6’5 person, it is really spacious on the inside. Its very sturdy, easy to set up and keeps out the rain. However, the front door can be a little tricky to get through

Fits my Mountain Ultra 2 perfectly
Happy with the way it fits my Mountain Ultra 2 tent (Model 2006YL). I put it up just as a test run and it's as it should be. Haven't tested it in the rain as of yet, or on damp surfaces, but the waterproofing on it looks to be sturdy and waterproofed well.
