Prime-Line Storm Door Protector Chain & Spring, Aluminum (Single Pack)

I recently installed the Prime-Line K 5026 Storm Door Protector Chain, and I’m very happy with its performance. Easy to install and works well with the wind.

I live in a double-wide mobile and the back door opens out, which can be an issue during times of strong winds. This tethers the door and cushions the sudden stop when it flies open suddenly. Also keeps it from slamming into wall. Installation is pretty straightforward, but I did consult a YouTube video to ensure that I had understood the minimal included instructions. The only slight problem was the nail that came with it that holds the tension spring to the doorframe has a head smaller in diameter than the loop on the end of the spring, so it obviously won’t keep the spring in place for long. I substituted a drywall screw and problem solved. I would buy again. 4 stars because who believes 5-star reviews?

On a windy day, my storm door blew open in the wind and went ‘over center.’ It pulled some of the hardware off the door frame. Once the needed repairs were done, I added this Storm Door Protector Chain and it does the job. Good instructions, easy to install with a minimal of hand tools.

As othters have mentioned, the Instructions are very vague. I watched the Viideo by The Storm Door Guy on Youtube several times, before and during my Installation. The problem on the Security Screen Door was that the top of the door is very narrow and I found it impossible to drill a pilot hole, even with a never used bit, the steel is too tough. My only choice was to mount the Bracket directly to the screen, the screws grabed very tightly and I believe that they will hold, if not I will change to #10 bolts with washers and nuts. I love the way the chain worked on a windy day, as it was that day. A super product for an oustanding low cost uner $6.00.

I installed it on my shed front door to stop the wind from whipping the door against the side of the shed once it is opened. It is well made and works perfectly. Also the directions are well written and clear making it easy to install with a battery powered drill and hammer.

3 stars because I just installed and it works so far. Instructions aren't super clear, but the large spring and bracket for the screen door are pretty much common sense. The part that threw me is how the small spring attaches to chain and door. You attach to chain by shoving the spring thru the appropriate chain link at one of the spring ends that are wound looser than the middle, so that you can basically mash the chain link into the gap of the spring. Which way you push the spring into the chain matters, as if you push it in the wrong way it will pop out when door is opened to 90 degrees or more. The large nail you also spear thru the opposite end of spring, where it is also wound loose, and then hammer that sucker into the door jam close to the wall but free of interfering with your piston arm (if you have one). So it works so far, but time will tell if the small spring ends up popping out during repeated use. They could've provided a more secure method of attaching that small spring to the chain, in my opinion.

Bad quality product, expensive and useless as compared to other similar items.

Easy to install and fits any door. Good quality but you might need 2 people to install.

Working well, the finishing is great and detailed.
