Just what the doctor orderedโฆ.at last!
After experimenting with a series of digital and analog watches for half a decade, (And maybe more), Watch finally meets my realistic, every day needs: a durable, inexpensive, large-bodied digital watch, which is incredibly easier to read, looks good on my wrist, and has little or no extraneous features. Granted that plastic strap isnโt exactly a luxury detail, but itโs working so far.

Exceeds expectations
I have 2 other perfectly good watches 1 a 15 year old Fossil analog Chrono and 1 5 year old Seiko analog Chrono (both weigh a ton) but wanted to go digital for an everyday knock around watch. I looked around and decided to give this Timex Expedition a try and I'm glad I did. Most important thing the price was right, I liked the look and size it's so lightweight forget it's there. The Blackout display does take some getting used to but so does a new pair of glasses, the Indiglo works perfect night or day. All in all this seems a good watch but only Time will tell I've only had it a few days so far.

Good Value
To keep this review short and sweet, I bought this watch for the first time at NAS Pensacola FL when I was in the Navy back in 2017, It finally broke and I replaced it in 2020 and this one is just now starting to break down. Never had to change the battery or anything. Buy it, wear it for 3-4 years and get a new one. And I was an Aircraft mechanic in the Navy and when I say this watch can take a beating, it can take a beating. Dropped it a from the wings of planes over 16ft drop. Smacking and banging my wrist on benches and the such. The first for as long as I had it, I am amazed how much hate that little watch can take. The only thing failing on my current one is the back light is finally clinching out. I think its the battery but it could be the watch.

Very durable
Boyfriend needed a durable watch since watches he purchased would break while working. He would constantly buy watches at the store ecause they broke during the night of work. Every couple months he had to buy a new watch .I ordered this one for christmas gift and so far he loves it. The numbers are easy to read he loves the light . Great buy

Stopwatch/Lap Counter The "chronometer" on this watch works like most other Timex stopwatches with a lap counter
This watch is well-made and has the standard set of features one finds in the Timex line of sport/utility watches, including 12/24 hour format, stopwatch and lap counter, timer, backlight, and multiple alarms. There are two major flaws with this watch: the stopwatch/lap counter design and the contrast.Stopwatch/Lap CounterThe "chronometer" on this watch works like most other Timex stopwatches with a lap counter, but it displays the current lap in a much smaller font, regardless of which setting you choose. This makes it considerably less convenient if you are trying to focus more on laps than on time. The start/lap button is also placed inconveniently. Despite the presence of a large button on the face of the watch below the display, the start/lap button is placed in the top right corner. Moderately inconvenient for right-handed users, downright dreadful for southpaws. There's no compelling reason why the start/lap button shouldn't be the large center button, especially for an athlete's watch, and this oversight is one of the biggest design flaws of the watch.ContrastAs the image(s) show(s) the watch has a dark backdrop unlike most digital watches. This is a very stylistically pleasing design for a watch, but it's horrid if you plan on using the watch in anything other than ideal lighting conditions. Although there is a built-in backlight, and when standing still the watch is perfectly legible, I suspect most other athletes will find the poor contrast an annoyance. A sports watch is meant to make life easier in the moment, and the poor contrast fails at that singular task along with the timer/lap display mentioned above. If you are looking for a casual watch to wear and don't care about using it for workouts, then this watch is well-priced and built well. If, however, you plan on using this watch for your workouts, skip this model and go for a more dedicated sports watch that might run 20-30% more, but will make you much happier in the end.

Great looking, hard to see.
First off this is great looking watch. Not blingy, and doesn't look like a spare snow tire on your wrist, ie. G-shock. As far a function goes its the usual fare as most of the digital Timex sport line. The fit of this Timex is very comfy... At least for me. I have a small wrist so it was a bit unusual to find the band a bit shorter than most. Still, larger wrist shouldn't have a problem.Pros: Awesome looking! The black body with black face is quite sharp. Also the alarm sound is louder that most Timex watches I have owned. It has a quality sealed look, with good lines, and the buttons have a positive feelCons: The black face isn't too easy to see. First, I knew what I was getting into. I tried one of these on at REI and immediately found the face isn't nearly as bright as the product's photo. In bright sunlight its not bad, but anything else is a bit of a chore, but doable. I've found in most light I can see the time, but the day and date is tough... Real tough. Smudges are more visible because of the dark face, but its not a deal breaker. In all wanted something different to rotate with my other watches. I doubt this one will be a daily wearer, but I love the look and feel. I have found after you get over the shock of it not being as bright as the photo, the black face isn't such an issue the more you wear it.UPDATE: Well, like others the illumination light broke and without it this watch isn't much use. Too bad Timex couldn't have designed this better. I really liked this watch.
