Dried Shiitake Mushrooms, 100g

This product has been one of our better finds on Amazon. Truth be told, we were apprehensive about the product that would be delivered, because it is perishable (as all food products ultimately are), it is Japanese shiitake mushrooms (because they are supposed to have originated in Japan, although they are now grown in Nagaland, India as well), we had no experience with these mushrooms prior to purchasing this product, and we were worried that the product might be damaged or have gone bad. THESE WORRIES WERE ALL UNFOUNDED! The zip lock packet contained undamaged mushrooms that look appetising. None of the mushrooms were damaged in transit. It has been several days since we started using these mushrooms and EVERY dish we have used them in has had its taste enhanced. Also, did we mention in the headline that we used ONLY ONE per dish? Yes, ONLY ONE. One medium sized shiitake mushroom (there are large ones in the packet, too), once hydrated, chopped, and fried, enhances the umami in your dish equivalent to a handful of local, Indian mushrooms. The taste is excellent and the umami isn't too intense for the palate. We are convinced that just ONE shiitake mushroom is more than enough for a person's meal. We think this is going to be a regular purchase, as far as we are concerned. Well done, Abbie and please ensure that you maintain the same high standards of packaging and product quality. We would love to see this product become a staple in India.

The best shiitake mushrooms I’ve ordered. They swell up really well and are yummy. All of them were big in size.

I've been buying dried shiitake from a different brand all this while, but chose to switch when my regular ones were not available. I was not disappointed! The mushrooms are big and rehydrate to become incredibly soft. Full of the earthy umami flavours shiitakes boast of! They absorb the surrounding flavours like a sponge to become very appetizing. 10/10 recommend. Will buy again!

Bought it coz I was looking for a cheaper replacement for the urban platter ones. Was ok for making stock. But when using an active ingredient it's not good at all. The texture is super weird like rubber, doesn't feel like you should swallow it. The flavor is nice but the urban platter ones were better. Would only recommend buying this for making stock.

Good flavour, works like a charm after soaking in water. A little expansive but it lasts a long time for me so it's okay

I'm surprised at just how much I like these! I've been putting shiitake mushrooms in everything and just can't get enough of them - they become so juicy and delicious. I've found that the flavor is best when they're soaked in plain water for two to six hours, though I've soaked them in hot water for half an hour in a pinch and they've turned out just fine. And the soaking liquid is excellent as stock! These mushrooms are clean, thoroughly dried, and don't have any grit. The packaging is decent as well. I'm happy to recommend them!

Has the texture of mutton, feels like a chewy fatty piece of meat, can prepare like a meat recipe. Soak at least half an hour, flavour is a bit sharp.

The product was okay and liked it. Not the best but it's on the positive side. Will probably buy again as long as the price don't increase.
