Dorman 923-034 Tail Lamp Socket Compatible with Select Models

Bought this to replace mine on the Grand Cherokee and installed it fits and works good. Highly recommended

Installed this on my 01 JGC limited. My sockets that i replaced these with, were doing all sorts of wacky stuff. I would fix the back left taillight, the brakes would cause it to light up, but wouldn't for the running lights. Then the right side would do it, and the left would not. I bought a Flash relay for the hyper issue, but this wasn't it. I replaced the top two sockets with these, and the issue disappeared! Very happy for a quick, cheap fix which is rare for a Jeep.

Works just like the original one on my jeep. Originals OEM are damaged by the heat of incandescent lamps. I'm replacing all of mine with LEDS so should no longer have heat or battery drain issues. LEDS are normally brighter too. These sockets went right in taillight assembly and made contact!

This was a direct replacement for my tail/brake lamp socket in my 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo. BUT - it did not solve the problem at no fault of Dorman. I had replaced the entire tail light assys as well, but was getting an intermittent tail lamp on one side and eventually lost all brakes lights including the hi-mount lamp. This Dorman socket is to correct a well known issue on the WJ, as the socket tabs bend and can break off entirely. In my case, the issue was actually the tail light assy iteself. The contact pads that mate the socket tabs were recessed too deep, and making poor contact. The brake lamp was actually arcing at the contact point of the socket to tail light assy, and blew 15A fuse #23 under the dash leaving me with no brake lights. The solution was simply a right angle pick under the contacts pads in the tail light assy, and tweaking them up a just a bit to better mate the socket tabs. TL;DR: This Dorman socket was a direct replacement for OEM without issue, but be sure and look at the mating electrical contact in the tail assy, it may need to be bent up a hair for a solid connection.
