This stuff works great.

the actual material thickness is just over 1/32 inch. the stonecoat website says this. not sure why this listing says 1/8. the material bonds extremely well to itself with acetone. in fact i couldnt break the actual bond. when i tried to flex it apart the material broke further down from the joint. however, it took a lot of torque to get it to break. seems like a good product.

4 stars only because the ends curl up due to strips being rolled for shipment. I repurposed an empty eye drop container to dispense the Acetone. It only takes a drop or two to join two pieces. 2 Lessons Learned Quickly. Make Sure Your Acetone is not old. Acetone will loose it’s potency and if old, not activate the material to create a bond. DO NOT flex the material at a point where you have just put Acetone. Let the joint set else the piece will snap very easily. Once set, I had no issues.

My countertop fabricator expected me to create the template for my vanity countertop. So I watched some videos on templating and ordered these strips. The product is great! I used an eyedropper to apply the acetone, which needs to be 100% acetone and not just nail polish remover. A little pressure created a very quick and firm bond. It's super easy to cut--just a little scoring with a razor knife and then snap. There were vastly more templating strips than I needed, but that meant I could do a trial run (and find out just how fast and permanent the bond between pieces is). The template was easy to transport in my small car, and the final countertop fit perfectly.

I think this is a great concept. I am in the countertop business. Things I love—more portable than the wood strips we use in Houston. Things I didn’t like—I just didn’t feel confident that when I returned to the Stone shop that things were square. Fix—I think if the strips were a little thicker it might be more rigid. I do plane on using this again. My first effort just happened to be 210” long so it was tedious. My reason for searching this product out was because Houston is out of the wood strips we buy at the supply stores. (I did use hot glue gun and then a stapler on those glue joints as well) All in all i think just a little thicker strips would solve the confidence issue. I hope to return and bump this up to 4 stars.

Makes a very easy to make template that stays together. Project complete and did its job with off center walls. Well worth the money doing it right the first time.

Super coiled and warped at the smallest size - really bent. It won't flatten even if left overnight. This is what I did to troubleshoot to 'not sticking' issue: 1. Increased room temperature to 80F; 2. Got a new bottle of 100% acetone; 3. Tried different sides of the tape thinking that maybe there's a 'side'. 4. Left heavy objects on the 'glued' pieces to try and make them stick. 5. Cleaned with cloth all areas to be joined as mine was very dusty when I got it. Such a waste of money and time. Nothing worked. Stone Coat....not sure what's wrong but it makes me doubt your other products that I was going to buy to pour my epoxy counter. Maybe that's why there are no reviews for this on their website AND for their epoxy...they have 6 reviews! Nice on-line presence, but I think you're a mirage.

Works great for creating templates for stone fabrication. Great product!

First, I have worked with acetone and plastics/fiberglass for 40+ years so I'm no rookie and with the acetone I have always used for other projects (100%), it would not stick this together. If I poured acetone on the strip it wouldn't dissolve it at all. If I soaked a small piece in the acetone, it doesn't dissolve or even become tacky. It does become brittle and snaps when bent though. For those that said they couldn't get the tape residue off (mine had it on the outer most piece) of the strips, use acetone, it removes the goo and doesn't harm the strip. Mine relaxed pretty well after it was uncoiled but will have to hold it flat once I figure out how to stick it together. I watched the video where they spritzed it with acetone and it instantly stuck together; this can't be the same product. I do not recommend this product.
