A Little More Money, A LOT Less Hassle!
I'll admit I don't use a caulking gun very often. So I've always just used the cheapo versions that generally suck. I recently had a new metal building installed and had a big caulking/sealing job ahead of me. I started with my old, cheap, flimsy caulking gun and quickly realized it was not gonna work for this large job.I ordered the Cox caulking gun. I had no idea they made such a fantastic piece of equipment. This thing made the job effortless. It's extremely well built out of quality materials. It has a swivel barrel, caulk tube piercer, easy squeeze handle...everything just oozes quality. But it doesn't ooze caulk because you just hit the 'ooze-stop' button and it won't continue to be pushed out of the tube.I'll no longer dread having to caulk something now that I have this gun. And the best part is it's NOT made in China!

Best caulk gun ever...
Very well made and engineered caulk gun. Highly recommended. However, mine came scratched also due to the tool not being in a box, just shipped in a thin plastic bag.Amazon put the plastic bag in a paper mailer which appeared to have been rubbed through by a conveyor belt damaging the finish on the tool. If Cox had shipped their product in a box, or if Amazon had shipped it in a proper container I think the finish would have been flawless.Speaking of Cox, they have been bought by the Swiss company medmix.Per their web site; "Headquartered in Eastern Switzerland, medmix Switzerland AG is a renowned producer of all-in-one application systems for the adhesives industry as well as an expert in offering a dedicated range of dispensers distributed under the brands COX™ and MK™."For the moment, Cox is still built in the USA and England. Also the little oil can showing a oil point generally means SAE 30 weight oil, that's what I keep in my oil can.3-1 or similar should work fine, it's not a precision bearing that requires a particular weight oil.In closing, this caulking gun should be the last one I ever buy. Happy with purchase.

Hierloom qaulity
After finding nothing but Chinese junk at the local big boxes I turned to Amazon. Boy am I glad I did. For a few bucks more I got an extremely well made tool that should last a lifetime. The mechanical advantage on this makes it much easier to use and have better results. If the astronauts needed a caulk gun, this would be it. No longer am I stuck in the cycle of buying a new junk caulk gun every couple of years. Oh and did I mention it's made in USA. All of their products are US or Made in England! cox-applicators.com .

BUY IT!
This is a great example of a well made AMERICAN product. It is unfortunate that so many Americans fork over $ for junk made overseas, instead of buying quality, buying once and being done with it. I have 3 caulk guns, orange ones from the big box store for $2.79. Not sure how I ended up with those....I guess I didn't know any better a few years back. I recently got some specialty caulk that would not come out of the tube using the cheap guns I had. I ordered this gun and I was able to caulk without any effort. Made a world of difference. What took me 10 minutes to do with my old gun, took 10 seconds with this gun.Get this and forget the rest. Or, if you want my old guns, pay for shipping and I will send them to you :-)The only thing I would change about this gun is the thumb pressure release. I find it to be difficult to push down. So, I struggle with it while the caulk is pouring out of the tube. Also, there is a spot to oil, but they don't tell you what kind of oil to use, olive oil, corn, engine oil, nail gun oil, I could go on....pretty stupid if you ask me, why would they tell you what kind of oil to use?Update 10/5/16: Originally I had this at 5 stars, but since I have emailed the manufacturer twice in the last week without an answer, I have knocked it down a bit. The product works great, but I don't like that the customer service is not responsive. I tried to figure out what kind of oil they recommend to use and frequency of application and it has been over a week without a response from them. Not sure why this information isn't provided to you when you buy the product.

I’ve had really good luck with these
As far as caulk guns are concerned, these are probably the best for the money. The last one of these that I had lasted 20 years. I’d probably still have it, but I made the mistake of loaning it to someone who never returned it to me.The trick to making these last is to keep it lubricated at the oiling points.

Quality to be proud of
I've had any number of the cheap stamped caulking guns during the last forty years. None was distinguishably better than any other. They're all stamped-out garbage. I'd even searched for better ones, only finding the pneumatic versions for hundreds of dollars. Finally I stumbled upon the Cox 41004. I gambled my $30 and am extremely happy I did.At first inspection it's clear this is a quality piece of work. It feels solid. And after putting a dozen tubes of various materials through it I'm extremely pleased with the results. Easy on the hands, easy to control.I'm often struck by the binomial distribution of some tool prices. Most tools, say crescent wrenches, can be had for $5, $6, $7, and on up in one-dollar increments up to $50 and perhaps beyond. In contrast, there are $100 dollar metal-cutting band saws and $1500 band saws, with little or nothing in between. Bearing pullers are $15 bucks a set or $200, with a similar canyon. I've learned that this is a warning. If you need to use it more than once or twice, pop for the expensive one (or borrow, or buy used).I'm now adding caulking guns to this list. It may become my go-to wedding present from now on.
