Great product!
Made my first 3 mini lampshades with jute covering. Worked very well. It's very stiff so I didn't need metal rings for support.I had to massage the styrene a bit when creating a circle as it has lot of power to unwinds.

Loved it!
I bought a unique lamp from a thrift store and it was damaged in a move. The shade finally fell apart last week. After looking up how to repair it, I saw this product. It was very easy to use. It was also forgiving as I didn't lay the fabric on perfectly, and I could pull off and re-adhere. Now I'm looking to create other lamps with the remaining styrene strip.

I like my lamps, too, and my shades!
The styrene was ideal for my project, which was not a lamp shade per se, but cylinders to be placed over a pair of accent lamps (for which I couldn't find shades). The adhesive was great (I used a semi-sheer fabric and it was something like putting up wallpaper), the thickness was perfect. The styrene was rather hard to work with, as it was tightly rolled and didn't want to unroll. Putting heavy books on it for several hours helped some, and I used books while I was working, too. This was my first time to use styrene; perhaps it always comes that way, though sheets would be easier to work with. The width (12 inches) was exact. My single complaint is that I was shorted on the length (supposed to be 64 inches) by about 3 inches, which didn't affect my project but may ruin some projects. I would suggest ordering the next higher length than you need, if your measurement is tight.

Handmade lampshade
Liked that it was easy to make a lampshade from. My shade had seen better days and this shade turned out beautiful. Easy to use and is holding up great.

This was a very rewarding project artistically and financially.
I rolled it out and put books on the ends to let it uncurl for a couple of days as suggested by others. The adhesive backing adhered well and went on pretty easily, especially considering the fact that I used a heavy weight home dec fabric. I reused the rings from my old lampshades and it came out looking like a professional made it. I also purchased the double sided tape suggested by Amazon which made the project go much more smoothly than using glue would have. I was a little nervous about taking this on, but it was surprisingly easy to do.

Great project and wonderful gift idea
I made a super cute sock monkey shade for my son's room. It does take a little bit of time gluing the rings to the material and you should have some clothespins on hand to make your life easy. A custom lampshade is a great, personalized gift and you can instantly refresh a room for very little money. Plus, the final product is very satisfying! Don't spend gobs of money on premade lampshades that are just "ok". Make something you love!!

Not worth the price
Seems to be great quality, but make sure to double check the size you’re getting.Thought I bought a much longer piece, but instead got only 40” for $40. I could have just bought two brand new lamp shades for that price! Instead, I can’t even make one. Would not recommend.

An hour later, I had a perfectly lined lamp shade!
The liner of a well loved, oft used standing lamp became brittle and started shattering and shedding in parts. Upon closer examination, I discovered that the lamp shade is actually made of top layer of cloth with cutouts, over a harder shell. After a bit of sleuthing, I came upon this styrene sheet liner. I bought it intentionally a bit taller than I needed to give me some wiggle room and got to work with a pencil, metal straightedge and an Olfa rotary cutter. An hour later, I had a perfectly lined lamp shade! Very satisfying. Super easy to use as long as you have the time.
