Nothing Left to Lose

I got this book for the amazing price of free dollars...wow!!! What a freaking steal, because this book is just awesome. I loved this book from the very beginning. We meet Anna as a 16 year old just looking to have the best sweet 16 with her long time boyfriend Jack...but little did she know that her innocent wish of going to a club and losing her virginity to the boy of her dreams wasn't at all what life had planned for her. We meet super HOT and SEXY SWAT Agent Ashton Taylor three years later when his assignment to to guard Senators troubled daughter, Anna. This is when we get to see Anna again after the horrific events she has had to face...watching her boyfriend get murdered, being kidnapped, beaten and raped all in just a few short months. She is now witchy with a B, standoffish and trains like a machine to protect herself. Throughout this book we get to see how Ashton helps her come back to herself slowly but surely. We got to see their relationship grow and see how Anna comes back to life. Some pretty heavy stuff happens towards the end of the book, but what's a good book without some sort of drama. The action is pretty HOT especially told from Ashton's POV. This book is great. It is pretty well written, with some great characters and the storyline plays out wonderfully. It is emotional, sweet, has a little bit of action and super sexy when it needs to be. I loved Anna and Ashton in this book and it was even better reading it in dual POV...that makes you appreciate Ashton and Anna so much more. If this this still free dollars you should definitely give it the good ole "1-click"...if not then "1-click" it anyway because you will not be disappointed! The only cons that I had with this book is that obviously the author is not American because you will find some spellings not typical to the American language as well as some of the things to character say...not a big deal to me but if you happen to be of the nit picking variety then steer clear and keep on looking.

My Review: I must start out by saying that I love this author! I read the book, The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window last year and feel in love with her writing! So as I was posting my favorite books on my facebook page I came across this book and decided that I had to read it. I read the synopsis and I was like, “Yup, that’s my next book.” The storyline itself was awesome. A girl who was kidnapped *eekkkkk* and now that she has returned home she is traumatized to the point that she cannot let anyone touch her. But now she has to testify against her captor who is sending her weekly letters about how much he cannot wait to return to her. So they grab the best and brightest newly graduated SWAT officer and assign him to be her bodyguard. But instead of the world knowing that he is her bodyguard, he has to pretend that he is her boyfriend. From the very beginning, Anna and Ashton have amazing chemisty. To the point that she will allow him to touch her from their very first meeting and her parents are caught off guard by this as they cannot touch their daughter. (As a parent, I cannot fathom that!!) But somehow Ashton is able to bring her guard down. He is able to get Anna to trust him, to trust his touch….. but he wants her to trust his love that is growing for her! But she struggles with the death of her boyfriend. He was killed when she was kidnapped and is afraid of being unloyal to their love. She feels as though she is living the life that her boyfriends should of lived. That she cannot live her life because he is not living his. **heart breaking*** This book took my emotions on a roller coaster. I felt so bad for Anna and for everything that she was going through. I cannot even begin to imagine what she is going through. However, the author was great at putting you in her head and letting you experience those emotions with Anna. The push/pull that Anna was experiencing. The sweetness that was going through Ashton’s thoughts/behaviors. These two have the sweetest moments that I have ever experienced! Even a week after reading this book, it is still with me. The lengths these two go through to be together. The hurdles they had to overcome! **ugh** Lack of words coming to me….. Well I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A couple of things that you should know about this book: 1. It does deal with some traumatic issues (e.g. Violent death, rape, kidnapping). Anna's boyfriend is killed violently in front of her when she is 16 and she is taken captive for 10 months by her abuser. 2. The book does go beyond the tragedy and it is a love story. Anna learns to live and love when she meets Ashton, the SWAT bodyguard that is assigned to protect her. 3. Jacky is totally dreamy. He is hot, sweet and so protective of her. 4. Their romance/love builds gradually over time as Anna is still traumatized over her past and is learning to heal. 5. It has a few elements that defied my credibility (She is the future's president daughter and yet the bad guys can still get to her?); however, I sort of bought it. This book,though part of a series is a stand alone. It is also very long. LOVED IT. It has a HEA and no cliffy. Great story; highly recommend it! Oh Yeah, it has some steamy sex scenes too!

Bellissimo romanzo, un concentrato di emozioni: amore, depressione, dolore, suspense, azione...tutto incentrato su Ashton ed Anna, due ventenni che inesplicabilmente si ritrovano intrecciati assieme nel loro destino. Anna a sedici anni ha subito un grosso trauma, dopo aver visto morire il suo fidanzato Jack è stata rapita per dieci mesi da Carter, il signore della droga e della malavita locale. Liberata da tre anni non riesce più a farsi avvicinare da nessuno, vive continui incubi e non riesce a legare con nessuno. Ashton, appena uscito dall'accademia Swat, viene assunto come guardia del corpo di Anna e tra i due scoppia subito un'intesa forte, un legame che col tempo si rafforza fino a trasformarsi in amore...Anna riscopre le gioie della vita, ma allo stesso tempo non vuole innamorarsi per non soffrire...

I wasn't sure I'd enjoy this book. - it's a little different than what I'm used to - but it was truly stunning to read. The plot is detailed and so we'll thought through you feel like you're inside it and the characters are so beautiful in their vulnerability - I found myself rooting for Ashton and Anna from the first time they met and wanted to cry with every twist and turn. Ms Moseley's writing style is so honest and heartfelt that you can't help but be gripped from the very first - her description of events and the change of pace throughout is so fantastic that you will want to stay up reading into the wee hours - I know I did - and it will be worth every sleepless minute. For me, there were no downsides to this book - it was heartwarming and gripping, tense and romantic, vulnerable and strong - just like its two main characters. I would definitely recommend Nothing Left to Lose to anyone who wants to smile and laugh and cry into their books. Overall, a beautifully written and mesmerising read.

So I read this book after the second in the series "enjoying the chase" and even though it was to be read first, it still didn't spoil (too much) the ending. This book and enjoying the chase both had me glued literally not being able to put them down, a real drug! There seems to be everything in the books, humour, suspense, love and passion. yet again it had me laughing at parts, crying at others and just so enjoying the characters. Thank you again Kirsty Moesley!
