Gibson Home Yoko Round Melamine Plastic Dinnerware Set, Service for Four (12pcs), Matte Black

I was looking to replace my old melamine plates I bought from Target many years ago and this set fit the bill perfectly. I usually eat my meals holding the plate in my hand or lap while watching TV or the computer and I needed light-weight material, which rules out the ceramics/stoneware dinnerware sets. Note that this review is for the "colors" Yellow-Gold, Sage Green, Rose-Red, and Blue; other color selections are different products altogether, which have some negative reviews. True, these are not microwave, oven, or dishwasher safe, but that's what melamine is and I have no problem with that. The set I received was in perfect condition and exactly as pictured. Quality is excellent. Product has a simple mid-century-modern aesthetic to it that I really like.

The only thing I did not like is one of the bowls was not completely sealed, and another one does sealing whatever they used to seal it is coming off. But other than that, it’s exactly what I needed light white and durable.

This dish set is lovely and it worked perfectly for Easter lunch decor, but some of the pieces had some little dark spots.

We eat outside a lot, either on our screen porch or out at the fire pit. My wife was concerned about us breaking our glass dinnerware. These are lightweight, durable and look nice. The only drawback is that they are not microwaveable.

We have multicolored Fiestaware dishes so I was looking for something for our kids as they transition away from toddler plates and bowls that we didn’t have to worry about breaking. These have been perfect and are great for dining outside or camping, etc. Great quality and love the bright colors.

I had to buy melamine sets because my Heath Ceramics set was being trashed, not by the kids but by my husband. So I figured this set would help extend the life of the expensive plates. Two things I have an issue with. One they say the product is dishwasher safe on the top rack. Well it’s not possible to put the large plates on the top rack. So we put it in the lower rack where they can fit. The dishwasher does affect the color of the plates. It’s not horrible, but the alternative is to wash the plates by hand and that defeats the purpose of having non breakable plates for a family of 6. Another minor issue I have with the plates is the rim makes it a bit difficult to cut stuff with a knife. And the plates don’t sit flush on the table, they spin lol. The kids like that but can be annoying. Overall is a good set for everyday if you don’t mind the above. The color is nice.

They are very pretty and haven't scratched. Though they were great until I saw on the bottom do not microwave.
