Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1979 album from the Disco diva. Loleatta Holloway was a dance music legend. Her amazing vocal talents gained her the reputation as one of the premier vocalists of Soul and Dance music during the '70s and '80s. Holloway started her singing career with Queen of Gospel, Albertina Walker (and her Caravans) before striking out on her own. This expanded and re-mastered edition comes complete with extensive liner notes and added bonus material and is a must have for all R&B, Soul, Funk, Disco and Dance fans out there!

Salsoul Disco still gets you on the dance floor
Loleatta Holloway’s self titled third studio album was released in 1979 as Disco was waning. The album was targeting the dance floors and did not miss. Holloway’s incredible voice is as usual the star of the show and no matter what genre she tackles, no matter what topic, be it Disco, R&B or a scorching ballad, her voice will make you feel! The party starts with “The Greatest Performance Of My Life” and can easily be a sister song to Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”. In spite of the comparisons to Gaynor’s classic, “The Greatest Performance Of My Life” charted its own territory and received substantial club play in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. “All About The Paper” is another solid Disco song with more of an R&B feel to it. “That’s What You Said” keeps the party going and also became a favorite at Discos and even became a moderate R&B hit, gathering substantial airplay on R&B stations. “Baby Its You” is another up-tempo slice of R&B that could have been a hit. It’s a shame Top 40 programmers never discovered Loleatta since her killer of a voice is tailor made not only for the dance floors but Pop success once again eluded Loleatta Holloway with this release. As famous as Loleatta Holloway was for her Dance material, Holloway’s brilliance shines brightest when she slows down the pace. “There Must Be A Reason” and “There’ll Come A Time” will both give you the shivers but the real show stopper here has to be album closer “Sweet Mother Of Mine”. The words and Loleatta’s passionate and heart breaking vocals here will send a chill down your spine once you realize that it is her own Mother that Loleatta is singing about here. Backed only by the piano, Loleatta weaves her stunning voice around this Gospel marvel with such pain that at times the song feels so personal that listening to it is almost an intrusion into Ms. Holloway’s heart.Big Thanks to Big Break Records for re-mastering this long out of print album which has long been a highly sought rarity for crate diggers and R&B/Disco collectors and is now finally available on CD. As with any BBR re-master, the sound is great, the liner notes are informative and the original album cover art front and back is preserved. There are also 4 bonus tracks, including the 12 “ Disco Version and the rare Larry Levan remix of “The Greatest Performance Of My Life”. “That’s What You Said” and “All About The Paper” are also available here in their rare but vital 12” Disco versions. For fans of Loleatta Holloway and Disco, this album is a must have.

The Greatest Performance of her life.
An excellent performer with a powerhouse voice. This is the album recorded before her big smash "Love Sensation." In this album simply titled "Loleatta" she included very good danceable songs as well as fascinating ballads. "The greatest performance of my life" is a beautiful ballad penned by popular argentinian singer and composer "Sandro." Which contains amessage worth listening to."That's whay you said" and "Is all about the paper" are worth mentioning as excellent songs.Loleatta Holloway is no longer with us, her music will live in our hearts forever.

Ce n'est pas le meilleur album de cette chanteuse exceptionnelle mais il se laisse écouter et la voix de cette chanteuse est toujours là: puissante, émouvante.
