Works with 2.5g!
I can't speak directly to the lighning protection as I'm not sure how I'd know, but I can say this is well built AND isn't just gigabit. Between my 2.5g capable switch and PC I'm getting full speed per iperf tests. Very excited that I'm not giving up those speeds, though I'm not sure if it will reduce maximum cable runs or whatnot.

Gotta try these
Lighting struck very very close to the house. I have surge protectors on the main panel, computers, TVs, etc.Forgot the ethernet from fiber to copper line going to my router. Blew both out, converter and router. These were highly rated by several sources and I now have them on the start and end of my ethernet cable.
