Solid Brass 1-9/16" Side Rail Hinges (Pair) with Screws

Finally a high quality polished brass side rail hinge that's affordable. This hinge is comparable to the the Highpoint side rail hinge at one third the price. It's the same size and it has a very nice polished brass finish. (the photo on the listing doesn't do it justice). I've been making small to medium sized boxes for many years and have been trying to find a side rail hinge that would make my boxes more affordable. Bingo!

Not as good as highpoint or brusso , but good value. $$ The provided screws are way too small. You will need # 4 screws, 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch depeding on the hardness of the wood. The softer, the longer. I used several pair of hinges and made a plexiglass template to rout the wood for the hinges. I would recommend using a threaded gimlet to pre thread the wood holes. Brass screw break real easy. I used a cross slide vice to make the plexiglss template and 1/4 inch metal milling bits. inletting the hinges is not a rookie move. look on Brusso site for template ideas . make the template at least 2 inches bigger than the router base, for clamping. Several weeks later installing hinges. They vary in lenght, just enough to make it interesting and cause misaligned box tops , if you do not adjust hinge cut out. Out of 7 pair I have one pair that was defective, they will not open. I used a # 53 drill for the hinges. Do yourself a favor, buy a set of number drills.

Very well made. Love that it sits just beyond 90 degrees so the box lid sits open. Nice finish.

After the return window. The hinge wont open easily. while investigating the pin fell out and wont stay seated.

I've been buying these for years to use in my custom boxes. My latest order the packing has changed slightly (hinges no longer come in a separate little bag) so the hinges arrive a little more scratched up from the screws than they did previously. More concerning, I've now had two sets snap at the hinge with little load or force applied. Quality of the brass has clearly gone downhill. I have no confidence in these any more and can't use what I have left on hand for fear of them breaking on my customers. No longer recommend these.

Excellent product. Great quality with nice weight to them. I will be buying again.

Broke first time using, outside of return window, lesson learned

nice looking brass hinges at good price. The screws are a little small, so in used my my own.
