Stove Guards

I am now purchasing a second set of the Prince Lionheart Stove Guard. We are updating our kitchen appliances; otherwise I wouldn't have the need for a second. It has been subjected to daily use for over a year including two different self-clean cycles (and that unit gets so hot the glass top becomes untouchable). Granted, I was very deliberate about affixing the clips and gave them plenty of time to set, however I used the provided adhesives and the bond is still so strong, the guard will be staying with the old stove in its new home. I frequently remove all three plates for cleaning - the clips never budge. Only minor complaint is it's tough to get the middle plate back in the clip after cleaning...but the bond ever survived my prying wedge opening the clip to get the middle plate back in. It is subtle enough that it's not a temptation for curious little eyes/hands, yet serves its function without compromise. Follow the enclosed instructions for installation and you have yourself a solid toddler-proofing tool.

So i used this product with my first son for 10 seconds and was dumb enough to try it out again with my much more curious 2nd son. I thought a decade of improvement would be the case but no. What a mistake. It was a total waste of money. The adhesive is not strong enough. Plus for it to stick I had to push down on it pretty hard and now my hot surface light won't work. Like pressing down caused a short or something. My stove is only 2 yrs old. This could partly be a stove issue but honestly if I didn't have such a hard time with the adhesive I would have been good. It seems this is the only stove protector I could find with both kids and they are ages 9 and 1! That's a long time for a company to improve. But I really think it's worse quality then it was when I bought it a decade ago. Please someone compete with these guys so we can get a better product.

I have had this product for almost six years. I am now just replacing it because it melted a bit! I think some of the negative reviews can be resolved by going to Home Depot and getting the strongest double-sided tape available. Please then use that tape instead of what comes with the product. I had better success that way...stuck for years. The biggest flaw is that you can melt it a bit if you are not careful. We were ok until only recently when we somehow managed to melt it only slightly. Plus, after so many years it is a bit scratched up. This product is really nice to have when you are at the stove with your child. perhaps you have them stand on a chair...well this product really helps put a barrier between them and the stove.

I have had this guard on my oven for a month and after some modifications, it is working great. First of all, I must say that my toddler is nuts - he is a strong-willed explorer and had a need to figure out everything. I would never walk away while I am cooking, but it keeps him safe while I am cooking on the stovetop. I did have to make some modifications though. This is what I did: Based on other bad reviews, I didn't even attempt to use the adhesive strips that were included. I used 3M 10 lbs adhesive and they are on good. I heated the stove before putting them on, cleaned the surface with a degreaser and then alcohol, and waited 24 hours before attaching the guard. Also, my guy figured out how to pull the guard off, so I used gorilla tape to tape the guard together and to the adhesive plates. I does not budge. See the attached photos. Like I said, it's not perfect, but with a little improvements, it is doing what it's supposed to do - prevent burns. Well worth $15 and an extra $5 for the extra adhesive and tape. Update after a year: as I write, I am waiting for the stove to heat up so I can change the adhesives on the stove guard.....again. Don't get me wrong, I still love this guard, but you need to be aware that you will be changing the adhesive every few months. For me, it's well worth the time and effort. A little goo gone, alcohol and elbow grease is all you need to take off the melted and hardened adhesive residue. The actual guard has held up well, cleans well and no melted spots or weakening.

During kitchen remodeling, I purchased a new range and this shield to help protect the knobs from grease splashes. I mounted the shield with the three sticky pads it came with, but days later the shield kept falling forward because the sticky pads where not holding it up very well. I looked for alternatives ways to mount it such as using thin hanging wires or magnets, but the magnets I had on-hand were not strong enough and were susceptible to scratching the stove, and using a wire didn't feel safe because I didn't want it hurting someone. When I saw my zip ties, I know that would be a good safe solution as long as I didn't cut the ends and if I could get it to work, and lucky so, it did work, and it worked very well. see the photos. The zip ties holds the shield very well, and I don't have to put any adhesives on the range. This would be a five star review if it had better mounting, but because I had to go through this, three stars is justifiable. Cheers!

This is awesome! We have an island range and purchased 2 (one for each side). I cleaned well, let it dry, applied rubbing alcohol and let that dry before applying the 3m pads. I then used a hairdrier on the pads to help with adhesion. So far my 22 month olds has been safe. We have stainless steel countertops and the adhesion is very good. We had a large stock pot on simmer for 3 hours and no sign of melting. I'm very happy with it. I'm wondering if all the negative reviewers did not clean properly. Kitchen grease will not allow the 3m pad to stick so i think you really have to follow directions. Rubbing alcohol really helps.

The product was to keep my toddler from touching a hot stove top. We cleaned with alcohol prior to applying, but there was a pot of boiling water that bubbled over and the water streamed over the front of the oven, causing the sticky part of the application to unstick. We were already having issues with this coming off before this... If you are willing to glue it permanently to your oven, maybe it will work...but other reviews say it melts over time (though I didn't have this issue). Was able to get 3 weeks of use before getting so frustrated with having to try to put it back up everyday since the applicators don't stay stuck.

This guard is great and easy to assemble and attach to stove. I have not had any issues with either the adhesive or with it melting like other reviewers have. Even when baking in the oven and cooking on top at the same time, no issues. I like how they extend past the edges of the stove on both sides so little hands can’t sneak up the side. Tips that may help: I put everything together first (without the adhesive) and held it up to the stove so I could make sure the clips were the correct direction and the shields angled away from the stove. Make sure you put the adhesive on the matching sides of the clips because they do have a slight angle where you slide the shield into it. For attaching, I put the adhesive on the clips and then attached the clips to the front of stove. I left them alone over night and then used them the next day. It’s been a few months and all is still working great! Also, we have a glass top stove. Not sure how they hold up on coil or gas stoves.

Until your child is tall enough to grab it from the top and pull hard, it’s perfect It almost don’t notice it is there while cooking

Recommend for anyone with curious toddlers! Better safe than sorry! Easy to install and very much what I needed for peace of mind! I agree with other reviews, in regards to the adhesive which is not too strong especially us who bake a Lot so the tape got a little loose. So we ended up putting some 3M tape and so far so good!!

Easy to install. Easy to clean. Works well to keep toddler hands away from hot surface. Very happy.

Does not stick well I ended up using silicone to stick it down however does provide a great barrier
