26 slots. But the end page that has slots for the sharpeners or erasers has less. 18 which is a total of 200 slots. But you can also put a few extras in the larger band on that page.

Does it hold gel pens?

I just got this for my birthday, had it on my wish list because I needed a case for my gel pens. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have really skinny pens. Sakura Gelly Roll pens are a VERY tight fit, and you can't utilize every single slot. I've had to put two side by side, then skip a loop and do two more to make them sit right. I wouldn't recommend this for gel pens. I have other things I could use this case for, and I'll probably get one of the cases with wider loops for multiple pens.

It shows in a mint green color but says light yellow. Does anyone know the real color?

It’s definitely mint green. There’s a bit of pale yellow in the flowers, but the case is not yellow. I don’t know why it says it is.

does it come with a strong smell?

No I didn't notice a strong smell.. I did notice that I loved it!
