Has anyone tried adding butter to this mix? I usually make my crush’s from scratch... afraid of being dissapointed, do you think butter could hurt it?

I wouldn't do it, but I think you should add additional flour if you add butter/shortening. From my own experience, when making more than two pies, I have made a homemade crust recipe with butter and/or shortening, and THEN added this mix before adding the (additional) water. It makes a phenomenal crust for sweet or savory pies, and is less work for my arthritic hands. Twice the crust with 1/2 the hand-work, and no one can tell the difference. I should say that I have never used this mix on its own, but I'm sure it's great!

Great Pie Crusts

These pie crust mixes are great. The crust is flaky and perfect for any type of pie. My MIL made her crusts from scratch, but agreed these tasted just like homemade. Just add water, mix well, and roll out on a floured board.You have to buy 12, but I have not been able to find these at any of our local stores. I have shared these with friends who are buying them as well.

Perfect for Anytime

For years I have purchased the ready made pie crusts. Sometimes it’s hard to find and can be too pricey. Im switching back to box mix because there’s no refrigeration needed and it only takes an extra 5 minutes to make it up fresh. Plus, it is cost effective for my cobblers.

Classic, but why do you have to uy a dozen???

I guess one might term this "bloat-flation" You wind up paying more by being forced to buy a dozen pie crust mixes when you only need one (but would be ok with two).For some reason, these are no longer available in our local grocery stores, so we're forced to buy them on line.
