Excellent product, price and speedy delivery. So easy to setup and use and easily portable....

I confess to being sceptical, having read a few reviews of this, but overall I've been impressed. The unit is highly portable. As another reviewer mentioned, there's no case (not even a cloth one) to protect it, which might be a detractor given its intended portability. I bought this as a cheap scanner to digitise a number of reports more quickly than using my existing (old) flatbed. Windows 11 recognised the device immediately, but I downloaded the software bundle from the Brother website in order to use the main scanning utility and update the firmware, the latter of which was quick and simple. I didn't install either the PaperPort software or Kofax Power PDF standard, the latter of which is only a free trial. Changing the scanning settings is really easy in the iPrint&Scan software, and creating a single document from multiple pages is straightforward having ticked the Continuous Scan option in the settings under Feed Control. Using this, it's a simple case of pushing the next page into the scanner after the last and the unit automatically pulls it in. Once you're done, hit Finish and the PDF save options appear. I scanned a 50 page (single sided) report, generating a single searchable PDF, in about 5 minutes. This is much quicker than the hour or so I'd anticipate it would take to do the same on my flatbed scanner. The quality of the document at 300x300 dpi was good; plenty sufficient for a document. Invariably a flatbed scanner (and one more modern than mine) would produce higher resolution images, which is possibly an advantage for scanning photos, but for quick and decent scans of documents and images this is perfect. I only have two "niggles" with this product: a) the paper guide slider moves very easily, which can make the paper feed in slightly crooked, although the de-skew function is good here, and with a little practice it didn't prove and issue. I used a small piece of blu tack just to hold it in place, which worked fine. b) the PDF creation software doesn't have a great compression algorithm. The 50 page PDF I created was 20mb. I ran it through ABBYY PDF editor and even on high quality it shrunk it down to around 4mb. Overall, I would recommend this product if you want a decent portable scanner that'll make digitising documents quick and easy. If you want high resolution scans of photos, you're going to want a flatbed.

Lets start with the obvious that I've seen in a few reviews here. This is a portable scanner, its designed to be light, small and easy to use and it meets all of these but with this you are bound to see a compromise and this comes in the guise of scan quality and alignment. These aren't negative points and I'll explain below. This is not a flatbed scanner and as such won't be as good and won't scan quite as well, but it's not meant to, it's a mobile device! Scan Quality - The default setting for most of the document types this scanner is aimed at is great, you can adjust the setting to a higher DPI (and therefore better scan) but this does 2 things, 1 reduces some of the auto features (like deskew) and 2 slows the scan time slightly. Alignment - You can get it almost spot on with a little patience, but for 99% of the time making sure the alignment guide is in the right setting for your document means your scan will be almost straight. And in all fairness after many years of flatbed scanners and high end document feeder scanners it's no worse than most of those. As with any device, if you take your time you get better results. I'm using the Brother software designed for the Mac from the Mac App Store (I'm running it on Big Sur with no issues) and the drivers from the Brother site - everything works perfectly with no issues. But as with everything there is a little bit of learning and once you've set things up it'll work very well for you. Workflow scanning - I've set up 2 workflows, one for PDFs and one for JPGs, I've set the scan location, filename settings etc. Works like a treat, single page PDF or a JPG is just a single click. Multi-page scanning - I've seen a couple of people mention this is difficult and hard to do, well actually it's not, it's really simple. Open the iPrint&Scan app and hit the scan button (not any of the workflows you may have setup) and scan the first sheet, you'll see a button on the screen that says 'Add Page' click this, scan your next page and repeat. You then select the save location, document type, filename and folder and you have a multipage scanned document. It's neat, it's small, it takes up very little room and it works very well.

I hate paperwork and hate huge scanners that take up valuable desk space, so I got this. I was purchasing a small property for my son and was bombarded with forms to fill in by the solicitor. So I got this. It took about 10 minutes to install on my Windows 10 laptop. I plugged in the scanner, it was detected by the Brother software. I put the paper face up on the desk and clicked scan. It quickly scanned the sheet, then I clicked add page. After 5 pages I clicked save to location, and breathed a sigh of relief. A few more documents and the whole job was done in about 15 minutes, and the scanner is stored away ready for the next set of documents to scan. For around £80 it was fab. Job done. Highly recommended.

Of course what you really need for a good job is a flatbed scanner. If you need portability, this machine is better than some alternatives of similar price, in that at least it doesn't produce washed out streaks and similar blatant problems on the scanned images. Pros: - Decent, user-friendly software with occasional glitches (which might be due to Windows 11, though) - Sturdy construction Cons: - Terrible scanning quality - tweaking the settings doesn't help, it's the sensor that's poor quality. Good for an on-the-spot-in-a-hurry scan, but if you have the option, take your document home and use a flatbed machine. - Awful document alignment: no matter how carefully you feed the sheet in, it will always be skewed. Verdict: buy only if you desperately need portability (as I do at the moment). Beg, borrow or steal a flatbed scanner for a decent job. (I have one of those too.)

This told me it would connect to an iPad instead of a computer, I’ve been trying to connect and have just found from the instruction manual that this version only connects to computers and id need to buy the more expensive versions if I want it to connect to my iPad, so a waste of money for as I don’t have a computer

Fonctionne très bien. Installation a la portée de tous. Le scanner se connecte a l ordinateur via un câble (fourni) USB. Avec une version vieillotte de windows, il suffit d'aller sur le site de la marque Brother, et d installer les pilotes (la marche à suivre est mentionnée sur le mode d emploi, c est très simple et ça se fait en 3 clics) Ensuite , le scanner est très simple d'utilisation, il suffit de cliquer sur l' icône du scanner pour ouvrir l application, d' insérer une feuille a scanner et de cliquer sur "numériser". Le sans se fait et s affiche à l' écran dans l application. Possibilité d enregistrer le document scanné en photo ou en pdf. Possibilité aussi de rajouter une page avant d enregistrer après chaque page scannée avant de l enregistrer .C est un peu fastidieux si on veut reproduire un document de 20 pages puisqu' il faut scanner page par page, puis enregistrer, néanmoins, il permet de le faire. La qualité de numérisation est proche d' un niveau professionnel.

Für mich die beste Investition, die ich im letzten Jahr getätigt habe: Ich benötige immer mal wieder Scans oder Kopien von Dokumenten, leider oft sehr zeitnah, so dass ein Gang in den Copy-Shop zu zeitaufwändig wäre. Für einen Flachbrett-Scanner fehlt mir der Platz. An dieser Stelle kommt dieses mobile Ding zum Zuge: Der Scanner kann bei Nichtgebrauch einfach unter dem Sofa Platz finden (natürlich ordentlich vor Staub geschützt). Für mich als Technik-Legastenikerin ist zudem ein Pluspunkt, dass das Teil wirklich einfach zu installieren ist: Man lädt über einen Link die Treiber-Software von der Brother-Seite runter, steckt den Scanner an das Laptop und kann sofort Dokumente scannen. Die Qualität der Scans ist super. Ich jedenfalls bin begeistert davon, wie so ein kleines Teil so optimal funktionieren kann.
