Dragon Ball GT: The Complete Series

DBGT Rocks!
Excuse me for a long review. First off, you're reading from a guy that has really liked the DragonBall series after getting introduced to it by a couple of friends back in 1999. At that time, the series was on Cartoon Network on Toonami. The DragonBall series became a hit, and seemed to be Cartoon Network's No. 1 show. On Cartoon Network back in 1999, I remember there being a Scooby Doo Marathon around Halloween, plus The Scooby Doo Project, based on a new popular movie at the time, The Blair Witch Project. These were the GOOD OLD DAYS!! The DragonBall series has stood the test of time, and you can even consider that the series even aired years earlier in Japan than when it aired on Cartoon Network. The DragonBall Series consists of: DragonBall, DragonBall Z, DragonBall G.T. and DragonBall Super. You can even add DragonBall Z Kai, an updated edited shortened version of DragonBall Z without as much filler. The main series though definitely seems to be DragonBall Z. That's the series a lot of us are more familiar with and watched before DragonBall, but DragonBall is really the series that came out first. I've been hearing so much talk and discussion about the DragonBall series since I was introduced to it. While D.B.Z. is the main series, some of us like DragonBall better. I've heard discussions on that. I've also heard some discussions that D.B.G.T. is better than Super. Earlier when I watched D.B.G.T. The series didn't seem as good or entertaining as DragonBall or D.B.Z., and the series wasn't written by Akira Toriyama. The animation style had changed and what they did with Trunks, along with Goku with a different appearance even back as a kid, and Vegeta. The glimpses and a few episodes didn't make it seem as good. But, after hearing some reviews like including a lot of people that think G.T. is better than Super, also seeing how when I'd watch things like the opening to D.B.G.T. and saw how it gave an adventurous feel, I decided to buy this. Man, is this series better than I remember it, even with some of the bad reviews. I'd say it's almost as good as D.B.Z. I'd say it even does some things better. For one, it's not as long of a series. DragonBall consisted of 153 episodes, D.B.Z. 291. D.B.G.T only 64. To put that into perspective, there are practically as many episodes of G.T. as the number of D.B.Z. episodes that took place on Namek. A good storyline from Z. But, G.T. begins the story with going back into space, finding DragonBalls across the universe, exploring other planets, with Goku as a kid along with Pan, and Trunks. Also adding a new character, a robot named Giru. I feel like we rarely see robots in the D.B. series despite it being an action series and showing technology. The robots usually aren't very important characters. We did know a Pirate Robot in DragonBall, which was a really well written storyline from the beginning series. We know Androids, but in G.T. we meet Giru and other robots that look, talk, and function like you'd expect from a robot. Giru becomes like an R2-D2 character in the series, and is useful. I feel like this series doesn't take as long to jump into the action as much as D.B. and Z did. It seems like the G.T. episodes end on cliffhangers where you want to find out what happens next? I feel like it's less focussed on Power Levels, and a character needing to get a higher power level, to win, not the way D.B.Z. did. Characters are more compatible with the other. I felt like it had more of a plot, and storyline than a lot of Z. There was even a really good storyline of Shadow Dragons because the DragonBalls had been overused. I feel like the G.T. storyline is more intact, and we didn't need so many episodes to see how strong a villain is and him being difficult to defeat. G.T. also brings back the Oozaru and then we have a Golden Oozaru. I noticed that after the Saiyan Saga, the Oozaru almost seemed forgotten like it lost it's importance, and Saiyan Characters no longer having tails. There'd be Super Saiyan transformations instead of bringing back turning into an Oozaru/Giant Ape. A character naturally seems stronger and more powerful if they become a giant. G.T. changes this by bringing back the Oozaru and changing it to the Golden Oozaru. One thing I've been hearing practically everybody agree on, is the Super Saiyan 4 Transformation we know in G.T. is better than the Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue transformations we know in Super. I mean seriously, those transformations were nothing really more than changing your hair color, Super Saiyan 4 looks like it's a believable transformation to Saiyan Biology. If Saiyans can transform into a giant ape, it sounds believable that a Super Saiyan transformation would be somewhat relatable, by making a Saiyan have their bodies covered in fur, looking powerful. I'd say Super Saiyan 4 is the best Super Saiyan transformation in the entirety of the series. I'm sure others of you would agree. I've hard in DragonBall discussions, a lot of people not liking the D.B.Z. ending with Uub. D.B.G.T takes place after the ending of D.B.Z., while Super takes place after the Majin Buu fight, and before that last tournament in Z. G.T. gives more focus on Uub and gets his character to shine, giving the D.B.Z. ending more of a meaning in G.T. I'll also say that I thought the D.B.G.T. ending was really good, and gives a happy and yet a sad feel that such a long awesome series is coming to an end, after all it's managed to do since the beginning. About endings, G.T. also has good end credits music with like 4 different ending songs from just a 64 episode series. We only had 2 different end credit songs in Z, Zenkai Power and We Were Angels. My favorite end credits song from G.T. was Blue Velvet. There's a lot more I could write, but I'll say if you like the DragonBall Series and have watched a lot of it, I'd say it's definitely worth watching G.T. too, at least that's my opinion. This is coming from a guy's opinion that used to think G.T. wasn't that good and hardly attempted to watch G.T. That opinion changed after buying these discs with all 64 episodes of G.T. and a G.T. movie, "A Hero's Legacy." It was very entertaining to watch and kept me interested. Thanks for reading!

Easiest- cheapest way to own GT.
As a Dragonball hardcore fan and purist. This is not a bad way to go about it. It’s very quick delivery!! Dragonball GT is not a good series. And it’s non cannon. Although some ppl did like it but most of the Dragonball community does not. The only reason I got the “lime green brick” is because it’s the cheapest and fastest and easiest way to own GT. I’d rather have the Dragon Box version of GT because it’s of its original 4:3 ratio with the grain. But it’s hard to find and too expensive. And because I’m not a fan of GT I preferred to get this green brick version because it’s cheap and to add it to my Dragonball- Dragonball Z - Dragonball Super - Dragonball GT complete story line. Only bad thing about this version is that it’s in a cropped 16:9 widescreen format. And Dragonball-Dragonball Z - Dragonball GT we’re made in 4:3 format. So it should be seen that way. That’s why the Dragon Boxes is the true pinnacle and holy grail in owning and seeing the the Dragonball storyline. But if you can’t afford the Dragon Boxes then then I’d recommend this green brick version is the next best way to own to your collection for GT. It’s quick delivery. It’s fast, easy and cheap to own 👍

Does include Lost Episodes and Movie!
This is a very good collection (assuming you like GT)! One thing I was mostly concerned about was whether or not this collection would include the Lost Episodes and IT DOES!!! Along with the GT movie. I couldn't find anywhere in the description or in the questions asked that said one way or the other.Another thing is that it includes the original Japanese opening and ending themes. It does not have the english themes which I didn't mind. It turns out that I prefer the Japanese ones anyway. Better music in my opinion. I think it's definitely worth putting in your collection and has a lot of nostalgic value. One of my biggest criticism of this series is that it double dips the plot many times throughout the series especially in the earlier episodes. In other words, the different stories are way too similar to the stories of the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z and comes off as rather uninspired.Even with this in mind I liked GT BETTER than the Dragon Ball Super anime which was far more original. Don't get me wrong, I love the Dragon Ball Super manga and overall story but I was very disappointed with how the anime itself turned out.The only other complaint I have about the product itself is how awkward the two seasons are put side by side with only a slip cover to hold it all together, each season having it's own folding case to hold the discs. It wouldn't matter so much if it was only one season with a slip cover but because it's two it doesn't feel very secure. I think I would have preferred a box to hold them in but to be honest I'm just nitpicking.
