Great sifter
this sturdy sifter is perfect for cleaning soil in the garden. I had a lot of rocks and it did a great job of helping me sift them out. I like this one because the handles are also sturdy which is necessary when you have a lot of rocks and even without rocks, it will last longer and be more useful. The size is just right to do a good amount of dirt before the next batch. I'm really happy with it.

Sturdy
Lifesaver! This thing was sooo good at helping me clean up the rocks in a rock bed. Super sturdy and the handles were critical, easy to hold and gave me a good grip to shake out all the dirt from the rock. Highly recommend this!

Just What I Needed
I am in the process of taking all the plants out of a raised stone bed that has been growing for over 20 years. The Plumbago has flourished and spread - everywhere. The phlox has too, along with many others, leaving me a bed in serious need of redoing. The soil is great, but the roots are so thick it is difficult to clean out by hand. I had seen soil sifters, but as my bed is 2 feet high and 5 feet deep, crawling in and out of the bed to use the large ones on a wheel barrow won't work. This tool allows me to use a shovel to break up the soil into clumps that I can break up with my hands and then shake the soil back into the bed, leaving all the roots in the riddle. I dump those into a large lawn bag and dump them over the bank of the creek. If any decide to grow, they will be a nice addition, otherwise over time they will become soil. Don't get me wrong, this is still hard work and slow going - BUT - the soil is beautiful, clean and I am looking forward to replanting the bed. My old hands and wrists could not have taken cleaning the bed out by hand, so this tool is a real blessing. Just don't add too much soil at a time or it might be too heavy for you to shake. Any larger and I couldn't use it, so this is a perfect size. The metal screen bottom has holes the perfect size and works as a grater as I rub the larger clods of soil over them so the roots can be separated. The handles make it much easer to grip and the older I get the less grip strength I have. The also make it easy to hang on the wall when I'm done for the day.

Strong frame
I have had this for a year, it works well and hasn't corroded. It is strong enough to fill with heavy dry clay soil peppered with stones, break apart with a shovel, and sift out the stones. I went through a couple of cubic yards that way. It's good for sifting compost and sifting old roots from used potted soil. It is a little wider than a 5gal bucket, but the bucket will catch most of what comes through, or use it over a larger container.

Probably the highest quality possible for an item like this
I have used this to sift rocks out of an enormous quantity of dirt and it still look brand new. My soil is heavy clay which is probably the most difficult to sift. This thing is probably a bit over-engineered and is strong enough to handle way more weight than would possibly fit in it. It's just the right size to be able to handle a decent quantity of dirt. If it was any larger it would be too heavy.I would say that the only improvement would be to include different sized sifter screens that could be changed, but I don't think it would be possible to do that without compromising the strength, or making it a lot smaller to compensate. The others I've seen on Amazon with multiple screens are much smaller.

Built to last!
Does the job! Manageable size, easy to use. Some reviews criticized the metal handles, but in my view they are great. If you’re wearing gardening gloves, no problem. This garden sifter is built to last.

swperates the dirt from rocks well
I bought this sifter to seperate stones and dirt. . Also to sift debrs from dirt. It works so well! fill it and shake and the debris stays and the dirt is sifted. the handles make the difference I think. Holds a decent amount of stuff . I would highly recommend.
