Funny and Well-Written, But Kids Didn't Find It AmusingI ordered The Wonky Donkey after seeing the viral video of the grandmother laughing uncontrollably while reading it. The story is clever, silly, and full of tongue-twisting humor that I personally found hilarious. The rhythm and repetition make it a fun book to read aloud, and I still can't get through it without laughing.However, when I read it to the kids, it completely fell flat — they didn’t laugh or seem interested. It seems like the humor appeals more to adults or older kids who can catch the buildup of jokes. Still, I’m glad I bought it because it brings me so much joy every time I pull it off the shelf. If you're buying it for yourself or other adults to enjoy, it's a 5-star purchase. If you're looking to entertain a group of young kids, it might not get the reaction you expect.★★★★★ (5/5)

The Wonky Donkey is an absolute hit in our house! As a mom, I love finding books that make reading fun, and this one delivers on laughs every single time. The silly rhymes and playful repetition keep my little one engaged, and we both crack up as the donkey’s description gets longer and sillier with each page.The illustrations are bright and funny, and I love that this book makes reading interactive—my child loves trying to say “spunky, hanky-panky, cranky, stinky dinky, lanky, honky-tonky, winky wonky donkey” all in one breath!It’s become a bedtime favorite, and I don’t mind reading it over and over because it’s just as funny for parents too. Highly recommend if you want a book that will make your child giggle while building their love for reading!

Love the fact I can buy a NZ book easily in the USA. This is one of my fav books to read and gift to children. It's hilarious and fun for both the reader and the child. Who can resist a cranky stinky dinky lanky honky tonky winky wonky donkey!

Cute and funny story. arrived in perfect condition

This is absolutely the cutest and funniest book that plays with words. Kids and adults alike love it.

The media could not be loaded. This is a really cute story and the rhyming is really adorable so it’s fun to read aloud and my two year-old son really loves it. However, some of the illustrations are like German fairytale dark. I’ve only had the book for about two days and I was reading it for the second time and I looked and I was like why does that bird have an eyeball in it’s beak, like seriously. I don’t think that image is necessary to tell the story, but there it is anyway. So while I still think it’s a fantastic book, and I absolutely would buy it again, if you’re squeamish like me, you might want to put a sticker over some of the pictures. I don’t think that putting stickers in a few strategic places will take anything away from the story, but I’ll be a lot less uncomfortable reading it to my child.
