Why called double acting

I googled it for you. All baking powder sold today is double acting. It contains 2 types of acids so that it creates gas bubbles when liquid is added and again when it is heated to bake it. This means it has "rising action" twice instead of once. The old single acting kind could have the rising action stirred out (loss of air bubbles) if mixed too much before baking.
