I was told that these alarms were the best to get. I did not know when I ordered that the alarms I had were disabled probably because they kept chirping. So I was glad I bought this. It won't work until you put the back on and I had a hard time doing it. But I got it finally, tested it, and it works. It will work for 10 years which is a long time. It does not fit on my old wall fixture so I just set it on a table. I will take it with me if I move. It is supposed to be the most sensitive alarm. It is bright green and looks nice. I like that it has a button to disable the alarm. It only chirps when the battery runs out. Over all, it is a worry free alarm.

Bought this for my girlfriend back in May cause she didn’t have one. It saved her life today. Her trash caught fire while she was in the shower. It worked as intended and she was able to get the fire out before it became a tragedy. Best purchase I have ever made.

Reputation of this brand is stellar . I’ve had exact others that were installed years ago and were functional thru 13 or 14 years !! I do test mine every 6 months so even my units beyond the 10 year life have performed better then expected . I make a note on my calendar that every 6 months reminds me to check . Wise reminder . Testing they are loud nuff to wake the dead !

Most smoke detectors are AC powered with battery backup and the backup battery needs to be replaced yearly. This 10-year battery operate smoke detector is excellent for the very fact that no AC is required and no yearly battery change needed. The internal battery will last for 10 year and by then just replace the entire smoke detector. Installation is nothing more mounting the base on the ceiling or wall with two provided screws then twist the smoke detector onto the base and you are done. There is a self test button to check if the smoke detector works and there is also a hush button. It only costs $23 with sales tax that equals to $2 per year, less than the price of a regular 9 volt annual replacement battery. Because of the convenient of wire free and no annual battery change I am going to buy more units and install in my garage and laundry room.
