Super Mario 64 DS [video game]

my kids love playing this game and having it available on a portable player is a plus.

The game itself is good. Need more time playing, and as soon as my 11 year old and 4 year old play it I am sure I will REALLY have an idea how good it is. But this review is more about where I purchased it- from Amazon Warehouse Deals. The game cost only $17.12 as opposed to the $30 news price tag and as a Prime member shipping was fast (ONE DAY in this case. Ordered it in the morning. It was on my doorstep the very next day) and free. The game "card" itself works as it should and is in brand new condition with no scratches or wear of any kind. It came in a plain black DS game case with no artwork or information booklets of any kind. Of course I never care about the cover art or the included documentation so not having these things is not a negative, considering the price of the game. All in all, another fantastic, good quality item from Warehouse Deals. I usually try and purchase anything I can from Warehouse deals. The prices are often much cheaper than new and the quality is usually the same. $17 bucks for a game that usually costs $30 is a fantastic price especially if it only means no cover art or booklets that I would likely throw away anyway!

I was excited to get this game partially just for nostalgia's sake(I remember being a little kid and playing Super Mario 64 on my N64 and loving it to death). Secondly I purchased this game for the simple fact that the original was sooo much fun, and the DS version doesn't fall short! It's got all the fun of the original game, but add to that, better graphics, 4 different characters with different powers to play as, more stars to find, and portability. Personally I find it easier to control on the DS than on the VC version, by using the buttons and in certain levels, the touch screen. I actually purchased this from Amazon Warehouse Deals, and I gotta say that I'm THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED! I bought this in "Used-Like New" condition, and it was in awesome condition, it looked like someone just took the shrink wrap off and stuck it on the used shelf, and I paid $20 for it, case, manual, and all. This was my first purchase ever from Warehouse Deals, and I definitely recommend them and I most certainly recommend Super Mario 64 DS!

There's absolutely no way to get all 150 stars in this game. No way at all....unless you want to spend 150 hours in trying to get them all. The controls are so haphazard that it's not even funny. Quite a few one-star reviewers mention this fact, and I'm proud to be among them. This game was NOT made to be played on the Nintendo 3DS. Let's start with the analog stick. Compared to the N64's analog stick, the 3DS's just plain sucks. The slightly depressed center provides no traction whatsoever (unlike the concentric circles found on the N64's analog stick). I'm positive that anyone reading this who has also played the original Super Mario 64 will agree that the controls on the N64 were far superior to the controls on the DS/3DS. When you move Mario in this game, his running speed is not consistent. Normally, Mario would either walk at a steady pace when you press Forward, or he would run when you press Forward and hold down a button. In the DS version, the longer you hold down the Forward button, the faster he walks. Why?? This was not the case in the N64 version!!! Mario did not run faster the longer I held down the analog stick in the forward direction, so why does he do that here? That's what Forward + Y button is for! This control mechanism has slipped me up on numerous occasions and cost me countless lives unnecessarily. And let's not even mention using the touch screen to move! That's just instant death and should be avoided at all costs. The game developers made no graphical improvements in this version either. Some of the landscape blocks and other obstacles zoom right into the screen and get in your way at certain angles when you need to fight enemies or make crucial jumps. Speaking of angles.....the CAMERA! Oh, the camera.....forget that one, too. You press the L button to center the camera in the direction Mario is facing, and oftentimes, it just keeps going around in circles. Having to face Mario in the direction you want the camera to go in, and then attempting to move the camera with L, is frightening. Definitely a one-star game. Pass this one up and treasure the N64 version if you still have it.

I grew on on the original N64 version, which was a really great game. This version of course, added the use of 3 other characters other than Mario each with their own abilities. They added more stars to the game with a few bonus levels. They also added more enemies to some of the levels as well as expanded level 2 on the lower part. You start out as Yoshi, but each other character Has been imprisoned by a game boss. You have to find their (Mario, Luigi, Wario) paintings, go through the stage, fight the boss, get the key to free the character. Its a better version of the game. They added a mini game section as well. I know this is actually an "old" game by video game standards (2004) , but definitely a great game! A better version of Mario 64!

The game was delivered pretty quick. The condition I purchased was labeled "acceptable" but upon seeing it in person it is super clean and worked as intended.

El producto es ideal para un amante de juegos de Mario porque es muy completo, tiene mucha jugabilidad y tiene modo inhalámbrico para que juegue otra persona sin cartucho (para eso hace falta otra consola, claro). Mi hijo la usa en su New nintendo 2ds y mi hija en su nintendo 2ds.

Lo compre sin mucho animo (un familiar queria jugarlo) pero cuando llego me agrado desde la presentacion del juego: En su cajita roja (tipica de los juegos de Mario) con su instructivo de 36 paginas a todo color (los juegos de hoy ya no lo incluyen). Y ya en el juego veo que mejoraron los graficos, no es un simple port donde puedes jugar con Yoshi, Luigi y Wario. Asi que aparte de los graficos mejorados (menos "poligonizados") tenemos nuevas aventuras y habilidades gracias a los nuevos personajes, muchos minijuegos exclusivos y controles que usan la pantalla dactil. Y si lo juegas desde un Nintendo 3DS tenemos el plus de poder usar el "Slide Pad" o "Palanquita" que mejora muchísimo la jugabilidad ya que jugar un juego en 3 dimensiones con el "d-pad" o "cruceta" del Nintendo DS es un calvario que hasta te deja callos en el dedo pulgar. Asi que recomiendo mucho este juego para chicos y grandes. ¡Aprovechen que estos juegos del DS no estaran disponibles para siempre!

This is high on my list for best game of all time. It’s a lengthy game if you try to collect all the stars too. The D-pad isn’t perfect for use on the DS Lite but it works good enough. The game case was like brand new. Not a scratch or anything on the case or cartridge.

Au lieu du jeu prévu, la pochette indique 500 jeux (photo) dont celui voulu. On a ainsi 499 jeux en plus ! Mais ce qui est déroutant, c'est qu'il faut bien chercher pour le trouver... Sinon, exactement le même que la version originale.
