AUVON Scissors-Shaped Pill Cutter, Sharp Blade Pill Splitter for Easily Dividing Most 5-15mm Vitamins, Tablets and Medications in Half

I've only used this pill cutter once, so my review won't be an in depth one. About 2 years ago my cat was diagnosed with a treatable condition. She was given a prescription of human medication that is reasonably priced. Here's the problem: the pills made for humans are way too strong for a 13 lb. cat, so I have to cut them in half. The pills are very small. When I tried a standard pill cutter the blade didn't even reach the top of the pill. I resorted to using knife, but the pills are very dense and don't "cut" without a lot of strength. I've shattered the pills countless times. Finally, I discovered these scissors. It was so easy and such a pleasant experience I can hardly believe it. And, as a bonus it's much easier to see the center of the pill so I can give my cat a more accurate dose of her medication.

I rarely take the time to post reviews, but am very pleasantly surprised at how well this little tool works, especially for a hard oblong supplement that I need to cut into 1/4s. I have been using a traditional pill splitter for years. It’s ok for some things can be inconsistent. For my B2 supplements, it was always uneven, I had to press really hard and it would crush a lot of the vitamin, etc.Best things about these little scissors:- I didn’t have to apply that much pressure even though it’s a hard supplement- I could be very precise in where I wanted the cut (even on the second cut)- I felt very safe doing it (no contact with the blade)- The pills didn’t go flying like they do with a knife on a cutting boardI’m wondering how long the blade will last and if it can be sharpened. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. But, overall super happy with this purchase.

I bought this pill cutter 2.5mnths ago, & have been totally shocked & amazed by such a huge game changer. I wish I'd tried this long ago, after trying to use other pill cutters for yrs now. I tried all available options I found, but none lasted more than a few pills, & they all lasted less than a wk. I even tried biting them, but that just broke my teeth. I thought this cutter might not work for me, w/severe tremors & weakness, but it was easy to use. I've now used it several times a day, for 2.5mnths, 10x longer than any other I've ever found. More than lasting, it looks & works the same as when I 1st came & I tried it. I've recommended it to all who can use it. I'm buying a backup for me, just so I never have to do w/out it again.

These scissors are consistently more effective for splitting pills cleanly (without crushes & crumbles) vs the various miniature-guillotine-in-a-case type splitters. But, it does require a bit of dexterity and clear close-up vision to line up the tablet between the blades ‘before’ clamping down. If your hands shake a little, or youre missing your ‘readers,’ results may vary. These are built more like small pliers with thick blades that can cut harder & thicker tablets. I check the placement of the bottom blade (one facing up) to be sure its hitting the middle of the tablet (top blade facing down is easy to see) and that helps ensure both top and bottom blades are coming together in the middle of the tablet.

I think this is the best or one of the best quality pill cutter out there. Most alleged cutters on here are made of cheap plastic and more crush than cut. Theres also issues with pill size in those and if course they break easily. There was one made out of all metal but there were reports of still crushing a bit. The scissors are really good but of course there are cons.For one there is some crushing (although very little) depending on the pill coating and fragility. If you have arthritis and hand disabilities or issues this isn't for you. The small pills can be a pain but you have control of the cut and angle so it's basically a give and take situation. If you have the dexterity and ability to use the scissors it's a breeze and super effective. The size of the pills is also a variable as you will have to hold it.If you have mobility issues or arthritis and the like maybe the all metal one is best although I have no idea if it's performance.

Wish I had found these years ago. Pills come in so many textures and sizes the the pill cutter scissors work perfectly on all sizes and textures. I had one pill that was so dense and thick that I broke two regular blade pill cutters. Also had small BP pill that crumbled easily when cut and the sharpness of the scissors cut so well, I was even able to cut in fourths as we reduced prescription. Very sharp, so I'm careful to store away from curious little people.

This pill cutter is amazing!! I take 2 kinds of medicine that I cannot swallow and the regular pill cutter I have does not cut them. I bought these to try and they are the best thing! You also don't have to use much pressure when cutting with them either, it's like cutting paper with these! So easy!

I've cut some fairly large pills with these with very few crumbs. They cut cleanly through even very hard pills, and the pills done slip as you cut down on them. You do need to line them up by eye, but they hold flat or rounded pills of any shape. They don't take a lot of finger strength, either.
