Very Informative
I was aware of many of the points in this book already. I recommend to anyone who still believes modern medicine is infallible and that medical doctors are scientists. Some of the things he describes in the book my family members and family friends have experienced, and I’ve heard a few other first hand accounts of people who’ve barely survived treatment from modern medicine. I like the way Dr. Coleman writes. He uses clear concise language that anyone can understand. He breaks down complicated topics so that those without a medical degree or even any type of higher education should be able to understand. He has excellent skills of logic and is very good at making a point and then backing it up with examples. The way he breaks things up into sections makes what could be an overwhelming amount of information much easier to digest. He backs up his claims with numbers and gives examples of where he read something, such as which journal or organization it’s from. I find him to be very credible and most of what he says rings true though there may be a few things he says I might question a little. But we should always question the things we read to a certain extent, and learning should encourage us to ask more questions. I really admire Dr. Coleman for dedicating his life’s work to telling the truth even at his own personal expense and having the integrity to stand up to injustice no matter the personal costs. I watched a video of him on You Tube and should mention that while reading this, you should imagine a distinguished elderly gentleman speaking in a British accent.

Witty and honest about the practice of medicine.
Dr Coleman has written in a way that is entertaining but at the same time very informative. I have been discoveringSo many of these truths for myself. My surgeon husband died from Alzheimer’s. And guess what, he was a good patient and took his Lipitor and baby aspirin and more drugs that destroyed his brain. I won’t be fooled the same way

Read this!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because he didn't cite his sources or have a bibliography at the end. That being said you could only benefit by reading this book. You will get common sense, experience, and some good humor when you read this book. I want to warn anyone who loves conventional, mainstream medicine: This book will probably make you angry if not offend you.

This Older Experienced Doctor speaks Truth
When I was young I had an old M.D. friend and personal doctor who had done it all, delivered over 250 babies, and treated all kinds of minor injuries, infections, and illnesses. This M.D, is not afraid to tell it like it Is based on his long experience in medicine and I believe these are the ones to listen to.

Unbalanced Jeremiad against med, health, pharm establishments
Vaccines are given for the economic benefit of the community rather than the health of the individual. If you approve of that then you can approve of vaccines. I consider it to be a fascist political attitude rather than a healing, humanitarian attitude.Coleman's belief, above, quote from bookHe says docs aren't scientists; well it looks like his d.sc is honorary, from Sri Lanka university, so take that for what it is worth. His opinions are not at all nuanced and therefore not balanced at all.Don't get me wrong, everything he says isn't wrong, but it looks like he makes his nut not by doctoring, not by bench science, but by writing books. He's become a partisan crusader, wanting credit for all kinds of firsts and has a misanthropy toward anyone involved in healthcare (even holistic folks) that borders on pathology. And yes, vaccines ARE important to community health; try living in an unhealthy community...There are important critiques of pharma, healthcare, etc -- but he practically frames himself as your sole savior from all that is bad.And that I consider narcissistic and misanthropic. There are better, more balanced criticisms.Goldacre's Bad Science, Prasad's Ending Medical Reversals are a just two.

All important information
Author is excellent. With COVID a topic of conversation now this book is helpful talking about general health, lifestyle and vaccine. We are over drugged for profit. So much to learn. All of his books helpful and relevant today even though written years ago. I am in gratitude for this author and how he continues to share.

good book mostly
I dropped one star because I think your research on addictive drugs is wrong. You should see the documentary made in the U.K. called "the God plant" for your wife's sake as well as those who follow your web site.

A brilliant read for everyone!
I don't know how I have reached my 67 years and not found Dr Vernon Coleman until now. If I had my way, he would be president of the World Health Organisation for talking such common-sense about every aspect of healthcare. I read this excellent book in three sessions over a couple of days - this dedication is something I would normally only give to a really good thriller. Such was my love of his writing style, his absolute dedication to simple remedies not based automatically on pills and potions, and his general irreverence to the normal clap-trap trotted out by the pharma-funded healthcare system that I promptly bought three other similar books from him, plus two of his novels!

The truth at last
From my own personal experience and that of every family member over the last 35 years I can honestly say that the BUS aka National Harm Service have "screwed up" every single operation and diagnoses given. They work exactly as described in this book, in fact it is actually much much worse! Two examples. They put the wrongdoers in the wrong place in my brothers broken ankle. They allowed a trainee to carry out a hernia operation without the patients permission, in other words training their incompetent trainees is more important than getting a good result for the patient. NHS = National Harm Service and remember never sign the consent form without nominating a specific surgeon, let's the nhs practice on themselves as t h ere is 1.5 million of them with better sick pay conditions than most of their patients

Patients are in CHARGE of their own bodies and NOT Doctors!
This is a very compelling book written in 2006 discusses the role of Doctors and Hospitals which is ultimately to improve the health and well-being of all their patients and save lives but the medical profession (Doctors) and health care services can sometimes kill people through mistakes including medical ignorance or incompetence. Dr V. Coleman writes in an easy to understand language and which helped me to read the book in one sitting.Today's current reality of global medicine and double-speak in the Government and the mainstream media around Viruses and Pandemics. And, by reading this book - it gives you a sort of second opinion. Dr Coleman powerfully argues that the patients themselves know their bodies better than anyone and they are in charge of them. More specifically, to Paraphrase Dr Coleman: ...Experts always exaggerate the importance of their subject in order to make themselves appear more important than they are ...For example, just as the people who warn constantly about AIDS are looking for fame and money… so many of the people who warn about bird 'flu are all bird 'flu experts with, inevitably, both a vested interest in creating interest in their speciality and in some case a commercial interest in selling remedies..."I found the 12 Coleman Laws in the book as excellent reminders for everyone to protect your health and well-being. Here is my interpretation of them: 1 If under treatment for existing disease and new symptoms appear - then you should assume the current treatment is causing it, unless proven otherwise. 2 No point having tests unless results affect your treatment. 3 If the treatment is not working - consider the possibility of diagnosis being incorrect. 4 Screening examinations and check-ups are more profitable for Doctors than their patients. 5 It is the Doctor who needs annual check-ups not patients. 6 Hospitals are not suitable places for the sick people, if you must go into one, you should get out as quickly as possible. 7 There are fashions in medicine as they are in clothes and the only difference is ill-conceived fashions may embarrass you - as the fashions in medicine may kill you. 8 The medical establishment will ultimately decide on health matters which benefit industry, government and the medical profession rather than the patient. Similarly, government will always take decisions that benefits them and not individual patients. Whatever you read, hear and see about medicine and health matters will always favour Big Pharma and the government rather than the real needs of patients. 9 Doctors and Nurses know little or nothing on staying health e.g. having useful information about food, diet and healthy eating, sadly, same true of nutritionists and dieticians. 10 There are no holistic healers, there are only holistic patient. 11 There is no such thing as minor surgery. 12 Some patient will always be treated more equally than others.Dr Coleman ends this final 12th Law by saying: "Today it is the elderly who are treated least equally. This statement is poignant on what is happening to the elderly in the UK within care homes - across the country during this current ongoing global virus pandemic. Finally, a very high recommendation from me to everyone to read this excellent book and consider reading "Old Man in Chair" by the same author.
