10/10 - GREAT BRACE
Im very surprised more people dont know about this one! Some background info for consideration: I'm a 30 y/o male. 5'10". 185 lbs. Very active lifestyle with focus in competitive cycling and Soccer. I tore my ACL 2 weeks ago in my right knee. I've torn the one in my left knee 3 times, so I'm well versed in knee-brace game. I did EXTENSIVE research because I got tired of wasting money on crappy braces. A few features about this one caught my eye. I received it today and WOW, I'm impressed. Straight out of the box it feels well crafted & sturdy. Velcro straps are strong. Hinges feel strong. I played with the hinge settings before putting it in and it's very simple to use. I love that you can move the hinges if you need to, via velcro sleeves they're held in. The 'EXT' & 'FLEX' settings allow you to manipulate the range of mobility with ease. The circle push-lock allows you to lock it in place for true knee immobilization. Its fantastic. Once I put it on, I felt it to be comfy and very snug (big thighs from cycling). So someone skinnier may find it to be a perfect fit. I don't mind wrapping extra tight for a tight fit. Once I got it in snug, I set my current range of mobility and gave it a test walk. I can say with confidence it will give amazing stability. I dont feel like jerky or like my knee will give out. My EXT is set at 30 so I have a slight bend at the knee when I walk, which is perfect. So far, I'm very pleased with this brace! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a brace in the 40-50 dollar range.

Worked good
I needed to stabilize a knee sprain or tear. This did the job. It has adjustable angle settings which work, but I found that it was in the way when I needed to sit at my desk. So, I just ignored those and used it for lateral stability. It took me a while to figure out how to attach this correctly. It would ride downward during the day. At least once a day, I needed to adjust it. Wore this for 2 months. It helped and I'm now walking without it. I was skeptical about it holding up, but it retired still in good shape. It was too bulky to fit inside my pants which are loose fitting anyway. Had to wear it as outer wear.

Helps, but does not prevent, hyperextension and you had better know how these things work already.
My first clue that this could be a challenge was the instructions themselves. "attach the buckled end of the strap to the knee knee surface" to the WHAT? "then use the other end to pass through the buckle, and finally fix the shoulder strap" shoulder strap on a knee brace, I think you mean thigh strap. Please someone proofread the directions! The directions say that you can place the hinges where you need them. At first glance the hinges appear to be quite solidly affixed to the sides in not quite the right place. After a great deal of effort I discovered that yes pocket does in fact come off with the heaviest velcro ever and should NOT be attempted by people with hand arthritis. I'll just leave the hinges where they are until I can have someone tear this apart for me. The dials, oh it's a good thing I have some medical background and could interpret the dials. I feel sorry for someone who has never seen anything like this before. Goggle is your friend, there are no instructions for how to read the dials. Fortunately i know what settings I needed, and also knew that the spare button locks the entire thing in position. Bet that made someone mad when they accidentally pushed it and then found their brace wouldn't move. I did measure my leg before ordering, and according to my measurements I came in on the low end of the 'large' scale. I did manage to get it on with a little overlap on the flaps, which they need for the velcro. I double checked the box to make sure that i had been sent a large thinking it was a small by mistake. Nope, it's a large. OK, let's try function. Function might be impaired by my not being able to budge the hinge position on the knee but they are mostly seated at the sides. Without a brace my knee wants to hyperextend 20 degrees, my goal was to stop that from happening. I had to fiddle with the settings but I did get it to where as I walked it would keep my knee straight, and while standing my knee was straight. Leaning on the leg it lessened the hyperextension, to about 10 degrees. Improved but not great. It's certainly better than no brace at all, and is better than other knee braces I have tried which claimed (and failed) to prevent hyperextension. I'm not unhappy enough to return it, but I will keep looking for a brace that actually blocks hyperextension.

Great for the price, but not amazing at preventing knee lockout
For the price it's hard to argue with. However, I bought the brace to prevent myself absent-mindedly locking out my knee, and this brace does a much better job of preventing knee bending than knee extension. I am able, even with pretty draconian settings, to lock my knee out casually. It also fits pretty snug on me despite following the sizing. I don't mind snug but if this brace *almost* fits you, the velcro will not completely overlap, and will dig into your skin, and it is pretty sharp velcro. ***Pros*** Price - About as good as you could ask for for the price. Locking Knee braces can go for $500+, and many of those aren't as good as this one. Preventing Knee Bending - This is solid for preventing contraction/bending of the knee. Lock is Easy to Use - Pretty obvious how the locks work immediately. Light and foldable - packs up easily, thin enough to wear under clothes. ***Cons*** Not Good at preventing Knee Lockout - I found that even when setting the brace to keep my leg at a near 45 degree angle, I can still stand up straight with only mild discomfort. If you are considering purchasing this to help you prevent yourself from casually locking your knee out, I would suggest getting something more heavy duty. Not Super easy get on "right" by yourself - Personally I found it, not exactly hard, but fairly fiddly to get it back on with correct tightness and positioning, without the velcro digging into me. This is probably the case for any velcro or lace based brace, but it is worth pointing out that you may need to put it on and walk around a bit, then adjust multiple times before you get it just right. ***Mixed*** Runs a bit small - I have basically never needed a large in anything, but I am 5'10", 180 Lbs, with fairly muscular thighs, so I got the Large version here according to the listed instructions. The Brace fit below my knee but only barely fit above my knee, with some adjustment though, it does fit. Velcro Discomfort - If the brace fits you but just barely, or you just put it on hastily, the velcro will not fully overlap with its connection... flap. This will cause part of the very sharp velcro strip to scratch your leg. This could be potentially alleviate by wearing it over some tights or something, but I didn't attempt it. ***Conclusion*** Overall I would say if you need to add some medium support, or prevent/restrict knee bending for a limited period of time, or need locking a brace that is easier to travel with, this is about as good as you can do for the money.

Good product, poor instructions
My rating is not about the product itself but the product instructions. This brace seems to be very well made and I would give it 5 stars for product quality. However, the sizing information resulted in the brace probably being, at minimum, 2 sizes too small. I measured very carefully and ordered a regular size. The instruction sheet is very poorly written with regard to adjusting the extension and flexion parameters and needs a better explanation. As usual, Amazon return policy is beyond excellent, so clear and so easy to use. I believe this is probably an excellent product for the price but sizing needs to be looked at very closely.

Perfect for a patella fracture!
Bought this based on other reviews after I fractured my kneecap and was told I needed to be in an immobilizer for at least 4-6 weeks. I've worn it for a full week so far (except to bathe) and have had no discomfort, slipping, or other issues. Easy to use, adjust, and take on/off. I prefer to wear it over a light bandage or legginfs, but it could be worn on bare skin comfortably. I'm currently not supposed to bend my leg, so I have it locked to 180, and there is a little give, but not enough that I don't feel secure. I had an appointment with an orthopedic specialist today who was very impressed with the product and asked where I got it and how much I paid, and he was blown away by the quality for the price. In his words, "We'd probably charge you a few hundred bucks for that thing"! I'll be in it for a few more weeks and will update if any issues arise, but overall, I've been very happy with this, especially for the price.

great for hEDS
I have hEDS and this is the only knee brace that has worked for me so far. No other knee brace I tried gave me the side stabilization and hyperextension support I need, like this one has. It's not perfect, if I'm wearing it all day I have to readjust it every couple of hours or my knees will hyperextend, but it's pretty good for the price and it's very easy to readjust since the gears are exposed unlike most other braces.

Nice concept, but execution leaves a lot to be desired
I bought these to help with two knees that have been declared by my orthopaedic surgeon to be "unstable", advising me it was dangerous to walk on our roof or climb a ladder to do normal home maintenance work. So, the straps & click-adjust knee flex limiters on this product seemed to offer a knee stabilizing benefit at less cost than other more exotic braces. I wore them indoors yesterday while I prepped repairs to a room wall and part of the ceiling for repainting after a water leak damaged the drywall months ago.. After five hours involving lots of up & down trips with the fall-prevention step ladder and basement stairs, I had to take these braces off. The problems I experienced ... * the upper strap had sawn into the back of my right knee early on, and I had to stepped down, dropped my pants, and rearrange the straps and padding at least six times try to stop this problem with only partial success * the combination of the upper and lower straps does provide a snug fit, but there is nothing about this design that prevents the brace from sliding down a leg if you climb or descend a stepladder or stairs; the strap arrangements also does not prevent the brace from rotating across the kneecap and interfering with movement; * the adjustable leg bend arc limits seem great, but wearing a heavy pair of jeans and going up and down a stepladder revealed that the limiter mechanism can be reset by your pants as you bend your knees, and does so frequently. Every time I tried to reset the straps, i also found the limiters (all four of them on two braces) had changed settings (once so much so that I nearly lost my footing coming down the ladder because the brace had locked up my knee, making it unable to straighten out); * the setting adjustment toggles grab so strongly on the heavy denim pants fabric that the pair of pants I was wearing had noticeable wear on the inside of the pants legs at the knee level. Fixes required for this to be a good product: - both straps need to be redesigned to add or include padding on their edges and yet hold the brace in the correct location / alignment relative to the kneecap, and do so without cutting off blood supply to the upper and lower leg muscles -- the arc adjustment mechanismss need a way to be locked on their settings so they don't change position on their own -- the center slide that locks each brace angular adjustment feature in place does it so strongly that anyone could easily in break or strip off a fingernail to release it -- if it isn't released, the brace cannot let the leg flex in a normal arc; curiously, this setting mechanism does lock in place, but the other two do not. -- some form of pad or pads need to be present to keep the brace vertically and rotationally positioned around the kneecap; my other pull on braces use a gel rubber pad to hold their position on the kneecap, but this brace has nothing like that feature So yes, I'm sending them back for a full refund.

Thank you! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I'm not going to lie, at first i saw this product and was a little skeptical, i figured something for this price couldn't possibly work, could it? but it came in early today and I have been wearing all day, my leg feels great, no more giving out randomly to fall to my knees, and it relieves tension on my knee in which i permanently damaged in a vehicle accident years prior. Thank you, very impressed and would 100% recommend for anyone in need of knee support or pain.
